Boeing Global Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior GMD SITR Readiness Field Operations Manager for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program at Fort Greely, Alaska (~100 miles southeast of Fairbanks). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing maintenance operations, ensuring the reliability and performance of the Nation's only strategic missile defense system, and leading a team of maintenance professionals. This role requires a strong background in maintenance management, technical expertise in the GMD system, and exceptional leadership skills.

Working Conditions: This position is based at Fort Greely, Alaska, which may involve working in challenging weather conditions and remote environments. Candidates must be willing to relocate and adapt to the unique lifestyle of the area.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:

    • Lead and manage the maintenance team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.

    • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and plans to optimize system availability and reliability.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all maintenance-related activities and communications with stakeholders.

  • Maintenance Operations:

    • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities for the fielded GMD weapon system and equipment.

    • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all maintenance operations.

    • Monitor and analyze maintenance performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Provide technical guidance and support for troubleshooting and resolving complex maintenance issues.

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that maintenance practices align with system design and operational requirements.

    • Stay current with advancements in technology and maintenance practices relevant to the GMD program.

  • Budget and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the SITR maintenance budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost control.

    • Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure the availability of necessary parts and materials for maintenance activities.

  • Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare and present regular reports on preventive and corrective maintenance performance, challenges, and achievements to senior management and government customers.

    • Oversee maintenance records keeping for all maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and compliance documentation in the GMD program maintenance management system.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): 

  • 5+ years of experience in team or project leadership

  • 3+ years of technical support experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing field or remote maintenance operations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • 1+ years of experience working on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with military or defense contracts and familiarity with government regulations.

  • Previous experience in a similar role at a military installation or defense program.

Summary pay range: $141,950 – $192,050
