The Boeing Company’s Information Data Technology and Security (IDT&S) organization Specialized Infrastructure Operations group is currently seeking a Mid-Level Systems Administrator to join the team in Herndon, VA; Chantilly, VA; or Fairfax, VA

As a Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security and efficiency of our systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to contribute technical leadership and DevSecOps principles in support of programs within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based systems and infrastructure, integrating DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate security controls, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks

  • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability, reliability, security and conformance to Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements

  • Simplify, automate and optimize patch management and compliance of Linux operating systems and applications

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to IT systems, with a focus on security and compliance

  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security standards and industry best practices

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements to enhance system efficiency, security, and DevSecOps integration

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Successfully completed a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years or agreed to enter a Continuous Vetting program such that 5 year updates are no longer required

  • Active Counter-Intelligence polygraph

  • 3+ years of experience with system administration of complex infrastructure and software development systems

  • 3+ years of experience with Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems (Server 2016-2022 Windows 10)

  • Experience with cloud computing and/or virtualization technologies (Splunk, VMware)

  • Experience with configuration management

  • Experience with networks and network communication protocols

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain or an active Full Scope Polygraph

  • Experience with automation tools (i.e. Ansible)

  • Experience with Windows support and administration in an Active Directory environment

  • Experience implementing and managing Containerized systems

  • Experience with security and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., ACAS/Nessus, STIG’s, SCC)

  • Experience maintaining enterprise-wide storage and network infrastructure

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $99,450 – $134,550

Security Clearance

This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
