The Boeing Company is currently seeking Software Developers to support our Intelligence Systems, Cobalt Charger team located in Herndon, Virginia. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. 

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, and Experienced Level Software Engineers.

Within the Boeing Defense – Intelligence Systems business, the Cobalt Charger team performs mission critical functionality for our customer. This position is part of a software development team that is modernizing a legacy solution into a modern container-based microservice architecture to produce custom navigation solutions in the most demanding environments.  An Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.

This candidate will be part of a team developing C++ and Java backend micro-services and JavaScript React user interfaces for a total software solution. A successful candidate will collaborate with the Boeing Software Enterprise to embrace software best practices, standards, and initiatives which position the Cobalt Charger team to efficiently bring rapid innovation and the quality that customers seek from Boeing.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop software source code, unit tests, and documentation for assigned tasks.

  • Participate in daily Scrum stand ups to report status and prioritize tasks.

  • Conduct peer code reviews and checkouts to ensure code quality and consistency.

  • Perform software design reviews and create tasking backlog.

  • Conduct software testing and track/resolve defects.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI 

  • 2+ years of experience working in a CI/CD development tool chain

  • 2+ years of experience coding in either C++, Java, or JavaScript  

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Experience with automated integration testing 

  • Experience deploying and managing containerized applications on Kubernetes, including orchestration, scaling, and CI/CD integration

  • Experience integrating automated security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience developing with ROS 2, including nodes, publishers/subscribers, services/actions, and DDS.

  • Experience with Navigation algorithms

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.    

Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $106,250 - $143,750 

Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $135,150 - $182,850
