The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), International Space Station (ISS) team, is seeking a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the team in Houston, Texas.

The selected candidate, carrying the title of Payload Integration Manager (PIM), will develop and help negotiate unique Payload Integration Agreements (PIAs) defining program-level key agreements, roles, unique Program services, provisioned Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) hardware, and deviations from standard agreements. Additional responsibilities include maintaining standard integration agreements throughout the lifecycle of the specific payload. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Planning and facilitating payload specific technical interchange meetings between the Payload Developer (PD) and International Space Station Program (ISSP) personnel to coordinate payload integration requirements across multiple disciplines for the full life cycle of a payload: launch, on-orbit, and return

  • Integrating the technical parameters to assure compatibility of ISSP interfaces and requirements

  • Helping negotiate programmatic agreements for payload ground handling, launch, and operations within an ISS Increment

  • Maintaining unique payload integration schedules

  • Assisting PDs with the Safety Review process; and potential support to real-time payload operations issue resolution

  • Responsible to status the ISSP and provide risk based assessments as the PD proceeds through the integration process culminating in both flight and operational readiness

  • Support with continuous process and product improvement initiatives.

  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues

  • Additional assignments could include the development, integration, and operations of Boeing sponsored ISS payloads; and the performance of systems engineering tasks for new business

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices, including risk management, requirements, and verification

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • ISS experience in an integration role – payloads, subsystems, or real time operations

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $119,850.00 - $162,150.00

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $146,200.00 - $197,800.00
