The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) organization is seeking an Associate or Experienced Technical Documentation Specialist to join the Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) Chief Engineering Team in Huntsville, AL. This role emphasizes editing, formatting, organizing, and presenting technical documentation and data with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Office skills to support program technical excellence and configuration integrity.

Positions Responsibilities:

  • Edit, format, compile, and maintain technical documents, reports, drawings metadata, and datasets to Company and industry standards

  • Consolidate data from multiple sources (engineering data test reports, BOMs, spreadsheets) into clear, consistent deliverables

  • Create and maintain standardized templates, style guides, and document control procedures using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Develop and manage Excel workbooks for data consolidation, analysis, and reporting (including pivot tables, formulas, lookup functions, charts, and Power Query where applicable)

  • Perform quality checks and self-validation of compiled documentation and datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to revision and naming conventions

  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, configuration management, and program teams to gather required data and resolve documentation discrepancies

  • Manage document distribution and controlled access using SharePoint, Teams, and other Microsoft collaboration tools

  • Support periodic reporting and presentation needs by producing polished PowerPoint briefings and executive summaries

  • Assist in maintaining configuration management records, ensuring documents are labeled, archived, and retrievable in accordance with program procedures

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years in a technical drafting/writing, documentation, or data-management role

  • Strong written and verbal communication and editing skills; ability to make technical content clear and teachable

  • Ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and present data; draw conclusions and offer recommendations

  • Comfortable reading and interpreting technical information and translating it into accessible documentation

  • Experience collaborating with diverse professionals and coordinating inputs from multiple contributors

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word: styles, templates, tables of contents, and track changes for collaborative reviews

  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint: creating clear, engaging presentations and visuals

  • Experience with product data management systems for document control

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with CAD tools or willingness to learn how to extract key information from drawings

  • Understanding of configuration management principles (revision control, naming conventions)

  • Experience creating training materials, user guides, or step-by-step procedures

  • Experience with databases or scripting for automating repetitive tasks is a plus but not required

  • Familiarity with engineering specifications and standards

Relocation:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  


Summary pay range:

Associate: $56,100 - $75,900

Experienced: $68,000 - $92,000
