Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is hiring an Experienced, Lead or Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) team located in Huntsville, AL. This position will support the production rate increase and advanced technology upgrade activities. This role will be involved in production support activities as well as continuous development projects improving manufacturing.

Boeing Huntsville has multi-year contracts to develop, manufacture, and test the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile seeker and future improvements. These contracts are driving significant, long-term growth for the PAC-3 engineering team on the Huntsville campus.

Shift: This position is for A (1st) Shift. (M-Th; 4x10)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain manufacturing templates

  • Development, implementation, maintenance of work instructions, travelers and special processes for manufacturing of new product through the life-cycle of the program

  • Ensure the manufacturing work instructions and special processes follow safety and environmental regulations

  • Create, submit and implement change orders for manufacturing procedures and processes

  • Implement design changes that impact new product development builds 

  • Ensure manufacturing procedures meet customer and engineering requirements

  • Review engineering drawings and provided comments to responsible engineer

  • Create, develop, maintain the bill of materials for new product designs. 

  • Develop and update bill of materials

  • Participate in program and design reviews

  • Participate in Material Review Boards, Engineering Review Boards, and Safety Review Boards

  • Evaluate manufacturing procedures/processes, quality control processes and drive continuous improvement

  • Create and maintain build books

  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, tooling and test equipment

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team which will include but not limited to: Program Management, Quality, Responsible Engineers, Integrated Product Team Leads, Contractors and Suppliers

  • Create and maintain first time build action item list

  • Drive action items to closure with cross-functional team

  • Teach, Develop, and Mentor Junior Engineers

  • Lead/support cross-functional projects to implement new manufacturing processes and/or equipment, driving continuous improvement in production capability and efficiency.

  • Identify, evaluate, and deploy advanced technologies and machinery to enhance manufacturing throughput, quality, and efficiencies.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience working with Supply Chain and Manufacturing

  • 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following within the Manufacturing Operations function (Shop Floor Manufacturing Operations, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management)

  • Experience with a Manufacturing, Engineering, and/or Aerospace Domain

  • 5+ years reading and interpreting engineering drawings for work instruction creation.

  • 5+ years reading and interpreting engineering part lists for bill of material creation.

  • 5+ years using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems

  • Willingness to work in a shop floor environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) or Bill of Material (BOM) software.

  • Six Sigma certification.

  • 3+ years of experience with model-based engineering implementation into model based instructions

  • 3+ years of experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with design concepts and techniques such as concurrent engineering and Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A)

  • SMT Experience

  • Experience working with electronic circuits specifically: PWB's, BGA's, CGA's, and LCC's

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • Level 5: 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Summary pay range:

Experienced (Level 3): $90,100 - $121,900

Lead (Level 4): $109,650 - $148,350

Senior (Level 5): $133,450 - $180,550
