Boeing Global Services has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Human Factors Engineer to join our Human Factors Engineering team in Long Beach, CA. This role supports the C-17 aircraft program, with a focus on services, sustainment, and modernization efforts.

As part of a cross-functional team, you will help ensure that C-17 systems, interfaces, and tools are designed with the operator in mind. You will apply human factors principles to support the design, development, integration, and evaluation of complex aerospace systems, contributing to solutions that are safe, effective, and user-friendly.

This position is ideal for an early career professional who is passionate about human performance, eager to learn, and motivated to support the C-17 mission through thoughtful, human-centered designs that support military aviation operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply human factors and human engineering principles to the analysis, design, and evaluation of complex systems
  • Support the definition of system performance requirements that promote safe and effective human operation
  • Contribute to the design of physical, functional, and digital interfaces for system operators
  • Assist in applying human performance methodologies and technologies to complex system development
  • Support compliance with applicable military standards, such as: MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-516C
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define human factors requirements based on user needs, operational context, and task demands
  • Work with systems engineers to integrate human factors requirements into system specifications and design updates
  • Develop low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes, including wireframes and GUI mockups, to communicate concepts and support design reviews
  • Create and refine rapid prototypes to evaluate concepts and incorporate user feedback early in development
  • Plan and support usability testing with end users to assess interface effectiveness and inform design decisions
  • Communicate human factors findings and recommendations across interdisciplinary teams
  • Identify human-related risks in system design and operation and support mitigation strategies that improve usability, performance, and safety

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Cognitive Psychology or other Human Engineering related field of study
  • 1+ years of work experience in Human Factors Engineering
  • Experience with human factors methods, usability evaluation, or interface design
  • Experience working in a cross functional environment and/or business unit teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters or PhD in Human Engineering related field
  • Associate Certification from Board Certification in Professional Ergonomics or equivalent education
  • Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP) or Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)
  • Experience with prototyping tools, usability testing, or user-centered design methods
  • Experience with military aviation systems or defense programs
  • Experience human performance standards and human systems integration
  • Experience providing Human Factors Engineering support across the product lifecycle
  • Experience across defense aerospace industries

Summary Pay Range: $98,600- $133,400
