The Boeing Global Services (BGS)is seeking an Associate Level Durability and Damage Tolerance and Service Life Engineer to join the C-17 team located in Long Beach, CA

The C-17 Structural Analysis Engineer will perform Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis to C-17/ Military requirements under the supervision of senior Durability and Damage Tolerance Engineers. They will become familiar with C-17 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program requirements and participate in providing the contractually required reports and briefings. They will perform life analysis work on various airframe components and provide forecasting for inspections and required repairs or modifications. They will become familiar with C-17 Structural Analysis tools, processes, procedures, and documentation requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with other C-17 Durability and Damage Tolerance (D&DT) Analysts to become familiar with C-17 Tools, Processes, and Documentation requirements.
  • Analyze repairs and modifications to the C-17 aircraft utilizing FEM and other computer and hand methods.
  • Become familiar with C-17 Aircraft Structural Integrity program requirements and participate in providing the contractually required reports and briefings.
  • Performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general supervision.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • 1+ years’ experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • 1+ years’ experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools.
  • 1+ years’ experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with structural sizing, and finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, etc.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Associate Level (2) Summary pay range: $81,600 - $110,400
