This is a role within our Commercial Modifications Team based in Long Beach, California, working with the global modification and cabin products teams (Bangalore - India, Seattle – USA, Hamburg - Germany)

BGS Commercial Modifications Engineering is currently seeking for a Senior Manager for Product Innovation located in Long Beach, California.  This leadership position will lead a team of project engineers that manage BGS new product development and perform product innovation research.  Primary focus will be advancing projects through initial technical development and supporting business development gated reviews.

BGS Commercial Modifications Engineering has a diverse work statement which includes both FAA and EASA Commercial Mods and Converted Freighters.  It covers the entire product lifecycle – Customer Engineering, Proposals, Engineering Execution, Certification, and Service Bulletins. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Business and Product Development Engineering Leader and working with global engineering teams, across multiple time-zones, to identify technical requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects.
  • Engage internal and external customers to authorize new technology studies based on marketing requirements, trends, and pricing environment to improve new and existing airplanes.
  • Advance new product development projects through the Business Development gated process.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with BCA Engineering, customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Leads, coaches, motivates and develops engineering team in technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring that new and existing BGS products remain competitive.

Required QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working cross-functionally across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of program/project management experience.
  • 7+ years Engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience with the design, analysis, qualification, certification, or modification of aerospace components.
  • 5+ years of exp of lead or management
  • Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer.

Preferred

  • Experience working with program management and interfacing with key stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting production line and aftermarket modifications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated customer focus.
  • Strategic thinking and visionary leader.
  • Experience developing, qualifying, and certifying new aircraft products.
  • Experience with Boeing’s engineering processes and systems.
  • Experience working with a global team outside of traditional hours.
  • Prior development of a new product from initial concept through product introduction and support.

Summary pay range: $166,600 – $225,400
