Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) in Long Beach, CA is hiring innovative Electronic Systems Design and Analysis Engineers to join a fast-paced Production Avionics team supporting programs such as the 777X, 787, and KC-46; you will contribute to development program design, define hardware, software, and interface specifications, participate in certification activities (DO-178/DO-254), and provide in-service technical support while collaborating with experienced engineers across product design, implementation, and lifecycle sustainment.  This is an opportunity to solve meaningful engineering challenges, grow your skills through ownership and mentorship, and help deliver high-quality, certified avionics solutions in an environment that prioritizes safety, quality, innovation and our customers.

Our team are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels: Experienced (Level 2), Career (Level 3), or Mid-Career (Level 4) Design and Analysis Engineer (Electronic Sys Design & Analy).

This position is expected to be 100% on-site.  The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at the Long Beach, CA location.       Occasional travel (10%) may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support Boeing Commercial Airplanes product design certification for production models including 777X, 787 and KC-46 Tanker aircraft.

  • Develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements.

  • Design hardware, software, and interface specifications for avionics systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional BCA teams across the company.

  • Write and execute test procedures in test benches, simulators, or certification flight-test environments; validate and verify that system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Lead discussions or assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and certification standards, including RTCA DO-178 and DO-254.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues for fielded hardware and software across the product lifecycle, including obsolescence and in-service events.

  • Research emerging technologies for potential application to customer and company needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science)

  • 3+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrates willingness to learn and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple functions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Wide range of knowledge in Systems, Software, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience working in an electrical design engineering environment (with emphasis on electronic and electrical systems design and analysis).

  • Experience in avionics design and a background in related fields within the avionics industry

  • Knowledge of FAA certification and airworthiness requirements

  • Experience in test planning, setup, test development, execution, conducting tests in a lab or production environment.

  • Experience in performing design, integration, and/or testing on avionics sub-systems, performing environmental testing.

Experienced (Level 2)

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Career (Level 3)

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Career (Level 4)

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range (Level 2):                       98,600 – 133,400

Summary Pay Range (Level 3):                     119,850 – 162,150

Summary Pay Range (Level 4):                     146,200 – 197,800
