The Boeing Global Services team in Long Beach, CA is seeking two experienced Senior Wire Design & Installation Engineers to lead equipment and wire‑routing installations in support of the C‑17 military cargo aircraft worldwide. This role is located in Long Beach, CA. The ideal candidates are self‑motivated, take ownership of their work, communicate clearly (verbal and written), and are customer‑focused with the ability to build strong customer relationships.

This role is responsible for selecting equipment locations and directing electrical/electronic equipment and wire‑harness installations. Responsibilities include support for equipment support structures, cockpit instrument panels, avionics racks and cooling, miscellaneous brackets, and machined parts design. The position directs design requirements, oversees installation documentation and verification, coordinates multi‑discipline teams, and mentors junior engineers. Proven ability to work effectively with customers and suppliers is required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Direct the development of functional and physical design requirements to ensure a complete, integrated design architecture for equipment and wire routing installations
  • Lead sustainment, development, and documentation of aircraft systems installation work products, (equipment installations and wire routing modification drawings); may include direct interaction with USAF/FMS customers, Field Engineers, and C-17 aircraft
  • Provide technical direction to cross-functional teams for complex statements of work, metrics, schedules, and budgets
  • Manage accurate equipment and wire routing installation while maintaining current installation drawings, wire routing configurations, and associated parts lists
  • Lead equipment installation and wire‑harness routing discussions in monthly Electrical Working Group (EWG) meetings and quarterly customer reviews, presenting comprehensive issue analyses, identifying root causes, and recommending interim and long‑term corrective actions
  • Define, witness, and approve verification/validation testing pertinent to installations (bonding, grounding) and review associated test reports
  • Develop 3D models using Siemens NX (e.g., support brackets, LRU trays) and wire routing; convert 3D models to 2D installation drawings and generate associated BOMs/parts lists
  • Incorporate wire harness modification kit drawings into wiring installation modification drawings and support kit production and installation procedures.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline teams (Structures, Mechanical, Environmental, Avionics, Materials & Processes, Electrical Systems specialties - Wiring Diagram, Wire Harness, Power, and Lighting) to ensure installation, safety, and certification/compliance requirements are met
  • Provide guidance on root cause analysis for field installation issues, corrective action development, and USAF/FMS customer communication and disposition
  • Lead supplier technical engagement and quality oversight for installation hardware and support components, including supplier audits and NCR disposition
  • Perform design analyses for safety, reliability, and maintainability (e.g., FMEA/FMECA); ensure routing and installations meet environmental, vibration, thermal, and human factors requirements
  • Work closely with Project, Cost & Supplier Management, Materials & Processes Engineering, and Quality to meet program objectives and customer expectations
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and new employees on installation practices and program processes; represent the discipline in IPTs, technical review boards, and customer technical interchange meetings

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience in wire harness design, wire harness installation or equipment installation
  • 5+ years of experience with 3D solid modeling software applications (e.g. NX, Catia, CADD)
  • 5+ years of engineering experience associated with the development, selection, and/or revision of parts, materials, and processes specifications used to make electrical wiring and associated electrical systems
  • 5+ years of experience with Teamcenter/IPDM or equivalent drawing release tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of combined higher education and/or related work experience (includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.) (Level 5)
  • 4+ years of technical and project leadership experience 
  • Experience drawing release toolset (e.g., Team Center/IPDM or equivalent drawing release tool)
  • Experience working with Suppliers, including technical coordination, performance oversight, and quality assurance
  • Experience with technical publications for part installation, wire routing and maintenance of aircraft
  • Experience in military and / or commercial airplane programs

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $146,200- $197,800

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $176,800- $239,200
