The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Quality Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to support ourAvionX teamlocated inLong Beach, California.This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Engineering, Test & Technology (ET&T) Software Engineering organization.

As a member of this Boeing Software Quality team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right processes are used for developing, controlling, and verifying software products, whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with RTCA’s DO-178, DO-330 specifications and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100 / AS9115) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and able to quickly learn the responsibilities of the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure

  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery

  • Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards

  • Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information

  • Ensures integrity of the test process and verifies test results.

  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products

  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities

  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance

  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement

  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. 

  • Level 2: 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) auditing 

  • Software Quality Engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements 

  • Software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.   

Summary pay range for Associate Level (Level 2): $74,800 - $101,200 

Summary pay range for Experienced Level (Level 3): $89,250 - $120,750

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
