The Southern California Global Design Center Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking a Mid-level Systems Engineer to become part of the Commercial Modifications Engineering IPT in Long Beach, California.

 We are looking for engaged and motivated engineers to join a team of highly skilled Project Engineers supporting the Interior Modifications products segment, working on complex technical work statements in a fast-paced environment. 

 The Interiors Project Engineering team is responsible for overseeing the execution of interior modification projects on all Boeing airplane platforms (including but not limited to 737, 777, and 787). This position offers excellent career growth opportunities and exposure to a wide range technical disciplines and phases of the product life cycle such as design, certification, and sustaining. 

 The selected candidate will perform as technical leader consulting on project proposals, developing integrated project plans, and working closely with program management and functional engineering teams to enable the successful delivery of high-quality products to our customers and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives. 

  Position Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand the project statement of work including safety and certification requirements
  • Facilitates Technical Design Reviews to help drive resolution to complex technical issues
  • Provides engineering and integration leadership to teams across multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external stakeholders and customers
  • Performs as Project Technical Leader guiding the integrated product team (IPT) in execution of interiors modification projects
  • Develops the integrated project plans and schedule, engineering statement of work, and certification strategy to support the development of ongoing and new business requirements
  • Supports project proposal activities by reviewing statement of work, assessing potential impact to certification or to configuration control, and defining overall effort required to complete the project
  • Oversee the project execution to completion and monitors and reports project technical performance metrics to provide for leadership report outs
  • Identify potential risks to projects and outline coherent action plans for mitigation and resolution
  • Compare actual results to the baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and document the lessons learned
  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives to optimize organizational quality and project flow
  • Work under minimal direction and is proactive
  • Some domestic and/or international travel required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years' working within a related engineering discipline (i.e., Payloads, Structures, Electrical, Cabin Systems, etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience in a role requiring project/program management skills and good understanding of aircraft systems and modifications.
  • Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • This position is 100% on-site. The work will be performed in Long Beach, CA.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Aircraft Interior commodity experience (Interior commodities are items such as overhead stowage bins, lavatories, galleys, seats, passenger service units, sidewalls, air grilles, seats, etc.)
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience in leading teams or projects
  • Experience with Engineering, Modifications, Proposal development, and Contracts.
  • Previous experience working in an aircraft modification environment or with Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
  • Has good understanding of 14 CFR Part 25 regulations
  • Ability to travel domestically & international up to 10% of the time
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Summary Pay Range (Level 3): $119,850 - $162,150
