The Space Launch System (SLS) team is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Engineers (Experienced or Senior) to join our team in New Orleans, LA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules for production operations. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient workflow, resource allocation, and timely completion of production projects. The industrial engineer will analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for shipside operations, ensuring alignment with project timelines and customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams to coordinate resources and workflow.

  • Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.

  • Monitor progress against schedules and adjust plans as necessary to address delays or changes in project scope.

  • Utilize industrial engineering principles and tools (e.g., time studies, work measurement, process mapping, modeling and simulation) to optimize operations.

  • Prepare reports and presentations on schedule status, productivity metrics, and improvement initiatives.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing best practices in scheduling and production planning.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all planning activities.

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior engineers as needed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering & production support

  • Experience in production scheduling, preferably in shipside production operations industrial environments

  • Experience with industrial engineering principles and production planning tools

  • Proficiency with scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) and ERP systems

  • Experience with budget and labor forecasting, capacity and constraint analysis

  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Both Levels:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Level 3:

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering & production supporting space programs

  • Proficient with scheduling software such as Aurora & Microsoft Project

  • Proficient with Integrated Factory Models

  • Proficient in data analytics and integration

Level 4:

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial engineering & production supporting space programs

  • Expert with Integrated Factory Models

  • Expert in data analytics and integration

NASA Site Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Summary pay range for experienced (level 3): $86,700 - $117,300

Summary pay range for senior (level 4): $102,850 - $139,150
