The Space Launch System (SLS) team is seeking highly skilled Manufacturing Engineers to join our Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) Manufacturing Engineering Integration team in New Orleans, LA.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, manufacturing build flows, and production optimization. This role involves working closely with design, quality, planning, and production teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of products while maintaining high quality standards.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate, mid-level and senior level engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for product builds.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review product designs for manufacturability.

  • Create and maintain manufacturing build flow documentation, work instructions, and process flow charts.

  • Identify and resolve manufacturing issues to improve product quality and production efficiency.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.

  • Support production teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance during build processes.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of components.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing planning, & production support

  • Experience establishing manufacturing build plans

  • Experience working in a production focused engineering role

  • Experience working with tooling and/or manufacturing operations processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

All Levels:

  • Experience using CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

  • Expertise in reading, interpreting, and enforcing standardized manufacturing processes, work instructions, and engineering drawing and process procedures.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and drive technical solutions in a production environment.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and variation reduction in tooling applications.

  • Understanding of ergonomic and safety considerations in production, design and manufacturing.

Level 2:

  • Competent in Full-Size Determinate Assembly builds

  • Competent in Model-Based Design

  • Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Competent in MESci

  • Competent in PTC Creo modeling or other CAD software suites.

  • Experience managing full lifecycle development of production processes for aerospace applications.

Level 3:

  • Proficient in Full-Size Determinate Assembly builds

  • Proficient in Model-Based Design

  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Proficient in MESci

  • Proficient in PTC Creo modeling or other CAD software suites.

  • Experience managing full lifecycle development of production processes for aerospace applications.

Level 4:

  • Expert in Full-Size Determinate Assembly builds

  • Expert in Model-Based Design

  • Expert in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Expert in MESci

  • Expert in PTC Creo modeling or other CAD software suites.

  • Experience managing full lifecycle development of production processes for aerospace applications.

NASA Site Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for associate (level 2): $75,650 - $102,350

Summary pay range for mid-level (level 3): $90,100 - $121,900

Summary pay range for senior (level 4): $109,650 - $145,350
