The Propulsion South Carolina (PSC) team within Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for highly motivated and passionate Mid-Level or Experienced Lean Practitioner (Level 3 or 4) to drive continuous improvement of a world-class propulsion production system in North Charleston, SC. The PSC production system includes 737MAX inlet assembly, 737MAX inlet Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MR&O), 787 engine build-up, and future nacelle production systems.

The successful candidate must be able to assist operations areas in achieving their business goals by implementing production system standards, business process improvements, and best practices. This position involves leading and supporting the coordination and integration of multi-disciplined product teams for planning, complex problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management to assure technical, quality, cost, and schedule performance meet current and future program requirements. The candidate's focus will primarily be, but they may also be required to assist in other regional areas as needed.

Instructs others in continuous improvement tools and principles. Assists in formatting updated training materials. Leads and facilitates (Lean tool certified) process improvement efforts. Supports advanced continuous improvement tool application.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leading and coaching day-to-day implementation of Boeing Production System (BPS) standard concepts predominantly in manufacturing areas

  • Coaching, leading and partnering with manufacturing, functional support, and management on systematic problem-solving activities

  • Promoting continuous improvement and problem-solving culture and tools

  • Coaching, leading and partnering with manufacturing, functional support, and management on systematic problem-solving activities

  • Leading, facilitating, and project-managing improvement workshops and systematic problem-solving efforts in focus areas

  • Supporting more advanced and complex process improvements

  • Instructing others in continuous improvement tools and principles using standardized lesson materials.

  • Supporting, coaching and partnering with a team at Senior Manager/Executive level to implement, grow, and sustain the Daily Management structure and cadence

  • Removing roadblocks for teams, while mentoring them to do the same for themselves - teach, inspire and empower

  • Assisting less advanced practitioners and rotational Kaizen Techs in proper usage of Lean tools

  • Participating in or leading maturity evaluation and assessment activities.

  • Work will primarily occur on 1st shift, while occasionally also supporting 2nd

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 6+ years of experience with applying Lean principles, processes, and tools

  • 6+ years of experience teaching and coaching continuous improvement tools and principles

  • 6+ years of experience leading or facilitating process improvement activities such as 5S, VSM, AIW, 3P, AMW/TPM, M&I, RCA, Systematic Problem-Solving, Theory of Constraints

  • 6+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to occasionally work varied shift when needed

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficient in basic MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 1+ years of experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or Manufacturing 

  • 6+ years of experience applying Boeing Production System (BPS) and/or Toyota Production System (TPS) concepts

  • Experience coaching team members and leaders in an operations environment influencing others

  • Competency in design/build prototype, Lean knowledge, process management skills and project leadership

  • Boeing PARL certifications as a practitioner or higher for BPSM, VSM, AIW, 3P AMW, and/or DK.

Pay Range Summary:

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Pay Summary:

Level 3: 89,250-120,750

Level 4: 107,100-144,900
