The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-Level Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. The selected candidate will join the Boeing South Carolina EHS team directly supporting the manufacturing of the 787 Dreamliner in NorthCharleston, SC.

As part of the EHS team you will support health and safety initiatives, projects targeting risk and injury reduction, and compliance to Boeing standards and policies.

The position provides an opportunity for growth in all fields of safety and health including (but not limited to): fall protection, machine operations, automation, powered industrial trucks, hazardous energy control, crane operations, etc.

The BSC EHS team is hardworking, and works closely with business partners at all levels. This position would support first shift operations in factory and flight line operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the planning, implementation and assessment of occupational health and safety programs and processes

  • Drafts health and safety programs that provide consistent approaches to risk reduction and compliance

  • Implements and oversees safety initiatives and projects

  • Investigates and identifies corrective actions for safety and health incidents and complaints

  • Develops, implements and oversees occupational health and safety programs and processes

  • Develops and provides training and instructions

  • Evaluates the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations

  • Develops corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspections

  • Plans and conducts health and safety audits, inspections, and investigations

  • Works with management to facilitate risk management decisions

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher

  • 3+ years of experience working in environmental, health and safety

  • 3+ years of project management experience

  • Experience assessing and evaluating risk

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s degree or higher in a safety related or Engineering field (Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Toxicology, Bio-Engineering, Public Health, etc.)

  • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals5+ years of experience working in environmental, health and safety in a manufacturing environment

  • 5+ years of project management experience

  • Experience with Flight Line and taxiway safety

  • Experience with aircraft hazardous energy

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

Summary pay range: $98,600 – $133,400
