The Seat Integration Team (SIT) with in Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Payloads Design Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join the Payloads and Interiors Design Center Organization based in North Charleston, South Carolina. This position will provide on-site engineering support for the Payloads and Interiors Organization responsible for the Boeing South Carolina Final Assembly facility.

As a Payloads Design Engineer, you will also support the prime engineering team in Puget Sound. You will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, and peers. Additionally, you will coordinate extensively with the Prime SIT Engineering and Management team, Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Boeing Manufacturing, Supplier Management, our airline customers, and other interiors commodity design teams. You will be expected to work independently with minimal management oversight.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Payloads Design Engineers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Boeing Seat Integration Team (SIT) processes, program plans, policies, procedures, and products necessary to effectively fulfill the functional responsibilities of the position.

  • Acts as a liaison between the SIT Team, BSC Factory, and Suppliers to resolve both technical and non-technical issues related to ongoing program topics and action items.

  • Assists in the review and approval of supplier technical data and documents to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and other relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Verifies supplier designs to ensure they meet customer and Boeing specifications.

  • Coordinates with certification specialists to ensure that proper certification and test documentation are completed prior to aircraft delivery.

  • Leads process improvement initiatives with suppliers to streamline seat installation, certification, and rework processes.

  • Facilitates effective communication and resolve discrepancies or misinterpretations of requirements between Boeing Engineering, Suppliers, and on-site Airline Representatives.

  • Utilizes skills and abilities to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations based on appropriate data sources.

  • Maintains close coordination and collaboration with other internal and external engineering teams, external suppliers, and supplier management.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years of design engineering experience (Airplane Interiors).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years ofrelated work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience using IVT, CATIA, ENOVIA/PDM, ETAC, and SDT tools.

  • Experience with Corrective Actions (CARs) and Engineering Change processes.

  • Knowledge of Boeing engineering release requirements.

  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors and layouts, FAR & SAE requirements for 16g dynamically tested seats, passenger seats TSO’s, as well as other applicable FAR / JAR requirements for aircraft interior components.

  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Experienced (Level 3): $90,100 - $121,900

Summary Pay Range for Senior (Level 4): $113,050 - $152,950
