Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a First-Line NDT/NDI Quality Manager (Level K) to support the 787 Site NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection) team under the 787 Quality Organization in North Charleston, SC on 1st shift.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) specialists across all 3 shifts, fostering a culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement to drive high performance and operational excellence.

  • Acquire and manage resources (personnel & tools / equipment) effectively to ensure inspections meet all customer and technical requirements while supporting and adhering to commitments

  • Collaborates across organizational and functional boundaries with management partners to execute programs, drive improvements and corrective actions, identify and mitigate risks, and proactively enhance first-time quality.

  • Ensures effective communication across teams and leadership levels regarding daily inspection status, strategies, project execution, risks, and mitigation plans.

  • Manages and drives business management needs; Leads and supports continuous improvement efforts that encourage innovative solutions to advance Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) execution and address constraints with effective solution paths.

  • Provides education, coaching, and support to ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and standards.

  • Interfaces and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to support and promote the development and health of NDT skill improvement initiatives.

  • Motivates and develops employees – oversees plan for skills enhancement and coordinates opportunities for job exposure

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment:To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders (i.e. customers, suppliers, peers and/or partners)

  • 5 years of experience managing multiple priorities with urgency and ensure clear, closed-loop communication

  • 5 years of experience in basic computer skills, including email, file management, and cloud storage

  • Ability to learn and use new software and systems quickly

  • 5 years of experience using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required

  • 1 year experience in NDI (non-destructive inspection) / NDT (non-destructive test)

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross-functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years experience in NDI (non-destructive inspection) / NDT (non-destructive test)

  • Current or previous NDT Level II / III certification in one or more NDT methods (ASNT Preferred)

  • Familiarity with National Aerospace Standard, NAS410

  • Experience in project leadership that led to innovations, performance improvement, or risk mitigations

  • Knowledge of Quality and Lean processes and tools

Summary pay range: $112,200 - $151,800
