The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented, motivated and professional individual with experience in a Part 145 Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team. You will be joining the world class EC135 Helicopter Aircrew Training System located at HMAS Albatross, Nowra, New South Wales.

As a first line manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning and technical guidance for the multi-skilled support teams. This role will provide the successful applicant with an exciting management opportunity in a unique, fast paced environment.

These positions require the leadership skills necessary to make decisions with sound judgment, to train and mentor maintenance and support employees, and guide the day-to-day operations.

Due to the operational nature of the role, there is limited opportunity to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the team of Flight Line Maintenance Coordinators and Aerospace Workers (8 - 10 staff) to deliver flight line services for the HATS EC135 helicopter fleet.
  • Lead and manage the team of Fleet and Maintenance Planners (4 staff) to plan and program the maintenance and modification activities for the HATS EC135 helicopter fleet.
  • Lead and manage the team of Aircraft Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technicians (6-8 staff) who manage, maintain and fit the ALSE for the HATS program.
  • In support of the Navy's Fleet Air Arm Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO), manage delivery of the Continuing Airworthiness Management services for the HATS EC135 helicopter fleet within the scope of the delegated responsibilities, and in a manner compliant with the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME) and associated regulations.
  • Managing Risk Assessment (RA) requirements prior to enacting new procedures and introducing new equipment, and coordinate RA reviews.
  • Coordinate activities in support of customer Operational Support requests.
  • Manage employees leave, shift rosters, processing of time sheets, security clearances, authorisations and
  • Conduct recruitment, cost management and procurement activities in support of the program.
  • Provide detached support to the QLD-based EC135 fleet as the planning and flightline documentation process owner for both NSW and QLD sites

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate for Success: Work closely with Boeing and Defence leadership to integrate efforts and deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Lead with Excellence: Provide leadership and management to our Maintenance Services Team, driving exceptional performance and results.
  • Oversee Operations: Oversee the management of day-to-day flight operations, including short-term deployment of aircraft during customer detached operations.
  • Optimize Maintenance Schedules: Ensuring fleet and maintenance staggers provide daily flying program needs and long-term sustainable fleet health
  • Uphold Standards: Ensure adherence to Boeing policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Respond to and manage deficiencies resulting from safety and quality compliance audits
  • Foster Team Development: Use your exceptional soft skills to lead and manage a team, promoting safety, harmony, and professional growth.
  • Drive Ethical Practices: Ensure that team objectives are met while upholding our ethical values and compliance with legislative, DASR, ISO, and Boeing standards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Detailed knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Skills to develop and implement new policies and procedures.
  • A strong background and an in-depth knowledge of CAMO requirements.
  • A minimum of five years military or commercial exposure to aviation skills streams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and people management skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams, preferably in an aviation maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer and business priorities to meet required outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a high paced operational environment.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products and familiarity with computer-based maintenance systems.

Security Clearance

You will be required to successfully undergo the vetting process for a Government security clearance (Baseline) sponsored by BDA. Therefore, you must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and must have the ability to verify your background for whole of life i.e. birth to present time.
