Te Whiwhinga a mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health, Safety & Quality Specialist to join our diverse and collaborative team located at RNZAF Base Ohakea.

This position reports functionally to the EHS Operations Manager, with day-to-day responsibility to the P-8A NZ Program Integration Manager. In this role, you will support the implementation of Environment, Health, Safety and Quality Management Systems across the P-8A NZ Program, provide practical advice, and work closely with stakeholders to drive compliance and strengthen our safety culture.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong EHS experience who can operate with confidence, build trusted relationships, and contribute to a supportive and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and support the EHS and Quality Management Systems at program level
  • Provide practical EHS and Quality advice to program leaders and team members
  • Partner with leaders and key stakeholders to support regulatory compliance and provide guidance on EHS and Quality matters
  • Help build and sustain a positive safety culture across the program
  • Develop the internal audit schedule and conduct audits aligned to the Quality and Safety Management System, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Maintain, analyse and report on records, schedules and system performance, including recommendations for improvement
  • Conduct EHS and Quality investigations and root cause analysis
  • Use your technical expertise and adaptable approach to engage effectively with stakeholders, understand their needs and challenges, and build collaborative relationships that support positive outcomes.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Formal qualifications, preferably a degree, in Health and Safety, Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Demonstrated experience applying ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and their application
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety at work principles and practices
  • Lead Auditor training/qualification, or the ability and willingness to obtain it
  • ICAM investigation training and experience is desirable
