Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Fabrication SpecialistTeam Lead (Level C). These onsite positions will support the Fabrication Team in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The Team Leads will perform tasks in the following areas: pre-shift planning, crew meetings, compliance, team status updates, labor loss production mitigation, training, process improvement and Lean/BPS. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Builds effective resource plans

  • Performs composite lay-up, fabrication tasks

  • Uses extensive knowledge to perform load, set-up, cleaning, and operation of machines

  • Identifies and communicates risks to First Line Leader

  • Updates and communicates BPS metrics

  • Identifies KPI, LMS kaizen improvement actions, and follows up with actions and tasks associated at weekly Kamishibai and Gemba walks

  • Assigns daily work; leads team in daily safety check-in

  • Monitors and reports daily progress to plan

  • Works with support organizations and First Line Leader to mitigate performance risk

  • Documents and communicates shift turnover

  • Establishes overtime requirements and staffing

  • Responsible for monitoring and control of 5S; utilizes Rapid Problem Solving (RPS) and coordinates with Line Side Control Center (LSCC) to address issues

  • Creates standardized work instructions

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and support teammates to improve their job performance, to include identifying training

  • Responsible for BPS process improvements

  • Exhibits Boeing Seek, Speak, and Listen behaviors

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Willingness and ability to work a variable shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) including weekends, holidays or overtime based on business needs

  • 1+ years of aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing experience

  • 1+ years of fabrication operations experience

  • 1+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.

  • Must maintain certifications to perform the job

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Previous Team Lead experience

  • 1+ years of machine shop experience (machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials)

  • 1+ years of experience leading production system and process improvements (i.e. Lean, BPS, job practices, techniques, and standards)

  • Ability to inspire and energize others

  • Problem solving skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $61,200 - 64,500​
