Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Hand Finisher to join our Fabrication team in Puyallup and Auburn, Washington.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a skilled team dedicated to precision and quality in aircraft fabrication. You will engage in hands-on work that requires a strong focus on detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to interpret technical documentation. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration, ensuring that each component is finished to the highest standards. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of the production process and the overall success of our manufacturing operations.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards and ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and join our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review the work area and job assignments from the Team Leader or lead to understand tasks and priorities.
  • Examine CMES, manufacturing plans, and engineering drawings to determine the specific areas and parts to be worked on.

  • Break sharp edges and form specified radii and chamfers on parts to prevent cracking during forming operations such as hydroforming and stretching.
  • Clean surfaces using solvents and/or water, then wipe dry to prepare parts for further processing or packaging.
  • Mark parts as required and package finished parts using protective wrap and inter-leaf materials to ensure safe handling and transport.
  • Check own work for conformance to specifications and quality standards; stamp work orders to indicate completed operations.
  • Assist and collaborate with higher-classified employees to complete detailed parts and spar cap machining and finishing.
  • Handle and rack spar caps, parts, and materials safely, using shop handling equipment as needed.
  • Communicate with Team Leader, supervisor, or co-workers promptly when assistance is needed or if any issues arise.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
