The Boeing Company is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Safety Manager to lead a team of industrial hygienists, toxicologists, and radiation health physicists in advancing chemical safety programs across our global operations. This role provides strategic and technical oversight to ensure the protection of employees, compliance with regulations, and alignment with corporate safety goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical depth in chemical and radiation safety, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, research, and environmental health and safety functions.

This position allows the selected candidate to be based out of either Renton, WA or Tukwila, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary corporate safety team supporting chemical safety, toxicology, and radiation health programs across the enterprise

  • Set program direction, establish priorities, and ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements

  • Provide expert guidance on chemical hazard management, exposure assessment, and risk mitigation

  • Oversee the evaluation, interpretation, and communication of toxicological and industrial hygiene data to inform safe work practices

  • Manage radiation safety initiatives, including compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory standards and aerospace-specific requirements

  • Partner with site EHS teams, engineering, manufacturing, and research & development teams to ensure effective safety controls are designed, implemented, and verified

  • Develop and maintain corporate policies, procedures, and standards for chemical and radiological safety

  • Mentor and support the professional growth of technical staff

  • Represent the company with regulators, industry groups, and technical committees as needed

  • Monitor and report program performance metrics to senior leadership

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Toxicology, Radiation Health Physics, Safety Engineering, or related discipline

  • 5+ years of experience performing Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene duties in an industrial environment

  • 1+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and/or informal leadership role

  • Proven capability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics to varying levels of audiences

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s degree or higher in a related technical discipline

  • Professional certifications such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)DABT (Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology), or CHP (Certified Health Physicist)

  • 1+ years of leadership experience in a formal team management position

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NRC, and other relevant regulations

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $114,750 - $155,250
