The BCA M&P Engineering organization is seeking a Materials, Process, and Physics Metallurgical Engineer (Mid-Level, Experienced) to join our team in the Puget Sound region supporting 737 Airframe commodities (Renton, WA).   The candidate should have demonstrated experience with Aerospace grade metallic materials such as Titanium, Aluminum, Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES) and High Strength Steels (HSS).  The candidate should have demonstrated experience with the processes associated with said Aerospace grade metallic materials such as Machining, Forming, Heat Treat, Shot Peen, Forging, and Casting along with the associated inspection techniques.  The candidate should have demonstrated experience correctly applying these metallic materials and process to aerospace structural designs. The candidate should have familiarity with/exposure to other technology areas including Aerospace finishes, fasteners, and composites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides materials and process support to Boeing Commercial 737 Airplane program throughout the full life cycle of the airplane from design to production to fleet support. Activities include definition of metallic materials and process requirements used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products.
  • Reviews metallic materials and process specifications and other engineering documents used to control design, certify and produce structural hardware.
  • Supports test reports and manufacturing planning used to qualify suppliers for critical metallic aircraft parts such as forgings, castings and machined parts
  • Identifying impacts of non-conformances associated with metallic materials and processes and corrective/preventative actions for future avoidance.
  • Conducts engineering lab / failure analysis to help determine cause and corrective action of fractured metallic aircraft parts.
  • Supports in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to future BCA products enabling a competitive advantage.
  • Supports and collaborates with multiple engineering teams, Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to solve a variety of materials and process challenges throughout the full life cycle of the airplane.
  • Produces definition and documentation of requirements, specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used to enhance the full life cycle of Boeing products with lead engineering oversight.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years experience with metallic materials and metallic processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with suppliers, supplier management, and/or engineering
  • Aerospace industry experience

Union:

Shift:

This position is to support 1st shift, with some collaboration possible between 2nd and 3rd shift.

Summary pay range for (Associate-level): $94,350 – $127,650
