The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortage (Experienced or Lead) to join the Special Project Dallas (SPD) P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Product Operations team located in Richardson, Texas.  The position will be an integral member of our organization working with a cross-functional team to drive obsolescence risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. The AAS program is in various program life-cycles (development, production, and sustainment). The Mid/Senior-level DMSMS lead will be required to support the obsolescence management in various stages of the product life-cycle.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a DMSMS risk register and lifecycle status of critical parts and components.

  • Perform obsolescence forecasting using internal data, supplier engagement, industry databases, and market intelligence.

  • Coordinate cross-functional obsolescence reviews, design change boards, and supplier risk mitigation efforts.

  • Create and track mitigation plans: last-time buys, redesigns, qualified alternatives, component qualification, and re-engineering.

  • Drive timely root cause analysis for supply failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Establish and report DMSMS KPIs and metrics (e.g., parts at risk, mitigation lead time, cost impact).

  • Prepare technical reports, change requests, and presentation materials for stakeholders and program reviews.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff in DMSMS processes and best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with company processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active Secret Security Clearance pre-start and Top-Secret Clearance post-start (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Programs Access may be required per the customer.  Certain Special Programs require that the candidate have only U.S. Citizenship or no dual citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering , Supply Chain, Materials Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing DMSMS or parts obsolescence programs.

  • Strong knowledge of component lifecycles, procurement practices, and qualification/qualification processes for electrical/mechanical parts.

  • Proficiency with lifecycle/obsolescence databases and common tools (e.g., Parts Management systems, PLM, ERP).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience preparing technical reports and presenting to stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience performing risk assessments and cost/benefit analyses.

Preferred Qualifications/Desired Skills (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with the SD-22 DMSMS Guidebook

  • Familiarity with industry obsolescence resources (e.g., OEM notices, EOL alerts, independent brokers, allocation services) and subscription tools.

  • Experience with cost modeling and financial impact assessment for obsolescence mitigation strategies.

  • Formal training or certification in supply chain (e.g., APICS/CPIM/CSCP), risk management, or reliability engineering.

Typical Education/Experience:

Experienced:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Lead:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:  Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. (No relocation is being offered)

Export Control:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Shift:

This is a 1st shift position.

Summary Pay Range:

Mid-Level: $102,000 - $138,000

Expert: $126,650 - $171,250
