The Boeing Company is looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Principal SAP Architect to join the Boeing Defense Systems (BDS) team in Seattle, WA; Arlington, VA; Bellevue, WA; Dallas, TX; Hazelwood, MO; Kent, WA; Ridley Park, PA; Tukwila, WA.  

The Principal SAP Architect will lead the design, integration, and delivery of SAP solutions tailored to the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry. This individual will architect and guide SAP-enabled transformations, ensuring alignment with complex manufacturing, program-centric operations, regulatory compliance, and government cost accounting standards. This role demands individuals to define robust forward-looking strategy leveraging modern technology tools and services to translate the strategy into execution under Boeing Defense and Space Systems (BDS). Also, this role is expected to have the ability to drive large multi-year transformation and help the team to resolve complex cross functional problems and challenges.   

A successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent Business Process and SAP Architecture leadership, SAP System Configuration & Development skills in Supply Chain Value streams. You will be working with Plan to Produce (PL2PR), Procure to Pay (P2P), Order to Cash (O2C), Maintenance Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) to drive processes, solutions related design and delivery on large scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation program for Boeing Defense and Space. Additional focus is partnering with other Functional and Technical Managers, Program Managers, SAP Architects, and Analysts (Business and IT) to lead design, delivery, and governance of Boeing S/4 enterprise baseline/template focusing on reusability, scalability, and first-time quality.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the functional architecture in a multiple-instance SAP S/4HANA in support of key A&D business processes, including discrete manufacturing, project systems, government billing, and contract compliance

  • Designs and implements integrated business process solutions across SAP modules such as Finance/Controlling (FI/CO), Project System (PS), Material Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM), and Project Manufacturing Management and Optimization (PMMO) (formerly Grouping, Pegging & Distribution)

  • Partners with compliance teams to ensure system design supports International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Federal Acquisition Regulation/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS), and government cost reporting

  • Architects solutions for defense-specific needs such as Earned Value Management (EVM), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) cost control, depot maintenance, and program lifecycle management

  • Collaborates with technical teams to ensure secure and compliant system integration with external systems (e.g., Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS))

  • Drives SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives (e.g., greenfield, brownfield, selective data transitions) using SAP Activate methodology

  • Collaborates with technical teams to ensure secure and compliant system integration with multiple Engineering and ME systems (e.g., PLM and MES)

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to business and Information Technology (IT) executives on SAP roadmap, strategy, and innovation opportunities

  • Evaluates new SAP capabilities relevant to the A&D sector, including SAP Defense & Security (D&S) Industry Solution and SAP Analytics Cloud

  • Defines and enforces functional architecture standards, governance models, and quality assurance processes across SAP programs

  • Supports cross-functional program planning, business case development, and solution scoping for multi-phase rollouts

  • Governs Enterprise baseline/template, solution documentation, and adherence to enterprise architecture standards

  • Mentors and guide functional analysts and consultants serve as the escalation point for complex solution issues

  • Supports the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs), vendor evaluations, and system integrator partnerships as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience in large scale SAP enabled business transformations

  • 10+ years of experience in a Systems Enterprise Architecture role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • SAP s/4 HANA certified, SAP BTP, Signavio Process Modeling, EA Modeling tools (LeanIx etc)

  • Experience with SAP expertise across multiple Valuestreams

  • Experience with Strategic and Enterprise thinking

  • Experience with focus and delivery of excellence

  • Experience with business processes

  • Experience with regulatory and compliance

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $142,800 - $207,000
