Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Ridley Park, PA.

Boeing is a leading global aerospace company that designs, manufactures, and sells commercial airplanes, defense systems, space technology, and provides related services, while prioritizing innovation and safety. The H-47 Chinook is a versatile, twin-engine, tandem rotor helicopter renowned for its heavy-lift capabilities, enabling it to transport troops, equipment, and supplies in diverse operational environments. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Level 4 Manufacturing Engineer to join our H-47 Chinook Structures team and support engineering assembly and installation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on assembly techniques, process improvement, and quality assurance. This role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production and adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Process Development: Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for the assembly and installation of H-47 Chinook Structures to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to ensure that products are designed for manufacturability and ease of assembly.

  • Troubleshooting: Conduct root cause analysis of manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to resolve them.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed work instructions, process documentation, and tooling requirements to guide assembly personnel.

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve productivity.

  • Quality Assurance: Review the work of others to ensure products and services meet the highest technical and quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies and processes, and embrace first-time quality as a way of life. Verify accuracy between manufacturing bill of material (MBOM) and engineering bill of material (EBOM), and monitor make/buy requirements to support committed production build dates.

  • Training: Provide technical support and training to assembly personnel on best practices, new processes, and safety protocols.

  • Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews, offering insights on assembly and installation considerations to improve manufacturability.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor production metrics, analyze performance data, and report on progress against established goals and objectives.

  • Leadership: Mentor team members, promote best practices in manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and team cohesion.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 9+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR 7+ years of work-related experience with a Masters degree OR 4+ years of work-related experience with a PhD.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing engineering role/environment

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with CATIA V5

  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Familiarity with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and PowerShell

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (level 4):  $117,300 - $158,700
