Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a motivated Senior (Level 4) or Expert (Level 5) Systems Engineer to support / join the Vertical Lift (VL) program Requirements & System Architecture team located in Ridley Park, PA. The selected candidate will report to the Requirements and System Architecture team.

The Boeing Philadelphia Requirements and Architecture (R&A) team supports requirement development, definition, and verification as part of the systems engineering integration effort. The R&A team is also responsible for defining and managing an integrated architecture across the different product teams for various production programs.

Position Responsibilities:  

This position supports the development and decomposition of customer requirements into contractual design and performance requirements. Additional activities will include developing the corresponding requirements verification plans, which will require leading technical integration with our Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). In this role, engineers will also be supporting the verification execution for our vertical lift platforms. This will include artifact discovery, verification of evidence against design and performance requirements, and verification acceptance through collaborative customer reviews. Individuals will need to interface with design teams to ensure compliance to baseline system architecture. Individuals will support integration of multiple engineering disciplines within the various design IPTs and require an ability to develop a working knowledge of multiple engineering commodities. Individuals will need to perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture, combined with analyses on affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory certification, product assurance, and other specialties into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. This role may provide opportunities to use cross disciplinary knowledge and experience to utilize model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques to support the continued operational effectiveness of multiple legacy air vehicle systems. Opportunities will be available to expose individuals to various aspects of the systems engineering process throughout the product lifecycle, beginning with concept of operations, into preliminary and critical design phases, through production and into fleet support. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential for success in this position. Individuals will be expected to leverage their significant knowledge of engineering design and system integration to facilitate the peer review of junior engineers and/or the leadership of larger scale project/program systems engineering efforts.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):  

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 7+ years of experience working in a team-oriented environment with multiple stakeholders (engineering, programmatic, scheduling, finance, etc.)

  • 5+ years of experience- technically interfacing with external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, etc.)

  • 1+ years of experience with a requirements management tool (DOORS, Slate, Enovia, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):   

  • Systems Engineering experience or education

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques (Cameo/MSOSA, Rhapsody, Core, etc.)

  • Experience working with US Department of Defense (DoD) customers or international Defense customers.

  • Experience in technical leadership roles

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications

Level 5

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications

Pay & Benefits:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (level 4):  $146,200 - $197,800

Summary pay range (level 5):  $176,800 - $239,200
