Boeing Poland is looking for an Airport Engineer (Experienced or Senior) level to join our Flight Operations – Customer Support team in Rzeszow, Poland.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our high-visibility work statement to assure that Boeing airplanes are compatible with and have access to the world’s airports. 

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in aircraft and airport compatibility to address critical issues related to airport operations, pavement roughness, strength analysis, and aircraft pavement loading. You will analyze various airplane configurations against airport operations and infrastructure to pinpoint any incompatibilities. Your hands-on approach will involve conducting on-site tests to validate pavement conditions and documenting airport infrastructure, all while providing actionable recommendations for enhancements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in aircraft/airport compatibility issues to include airport operations & planning

  • Utilize ICAO and FAA airfield pavement standards to analyze pavement data to determine pavement strength by calculating ICAO PCN and PCR values

  • Applies knowledge of airfield pavement design and evaluation using FAA pavement design software to perform pavement structural analysis

  • Experience conducting on-site airfield roughness testing and non-destructive pavement strength testing, including deflection testing

  • Recommends changes to facilities and/or procedures to support removal of operational restrictions.

  • Mentor and train early career engineers

  • Oversees quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced by checking computations and drawings performed by others

  • Analyzes technical problems and provides new approaches and alternative solutions

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Rzeszow.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 7+ years of experience in airport infrastructure design and planning, air-side airport operations, and airport compatibility

  • 7+ years of experience in project leadership/management roles including active engagement with all the following: cross-functional teams, airport authorities, aviation regulatory authorities, and airlines

  • 7+ years of experience in conducting airport aeronautical safety assessment based on ICAO and FAA SMS standards

  • Effective communication and technical writing skills

  • Advance knowledge of part 139 airport certification

  • Experience and knowledge of Airfield Safety procedures, policies, and requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or other related engineering field

  • Advance knowledge of airfield signage, lighting and NAVAIDs

  • Advance knowledge and application of ICAO and FAA aerodrome design and operations standards

  • Experience with FAA FAARFIELD and other pavement tools to conduct analysis and report pavement strength (ACN/PCN & ACR/PCR)

  • Experience back calculating pavement strength utilizing existing airfield pavement data and reported traffic mix

  • Proficient skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation, ArcGIS, AVIPLAN, Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent public speaking skills. Position will require frequent engagement with airport, civil aviation, and airline customers

  • Professional registration is a plus

  • Advanced knowledge of Boeing and Competitor airplane models, their basic dimensional and performance characteristics, and the application of these models to the worldwide market

  • Advance knowledge of airport physical characteristics (e.g., airfield design, pavement strength, design standards) and operating procedures (e.g., crash/fire/rescue data, air traffic control)

  • Participation in aerodrome design and planning industry working groups (ICAO, FAA, EASA, IATA, AIAA, ICCAIA, AAAE, ACI)

  • Experience conducing onsite pavement roughness and strength

  • Experience in airport airfield operations

  • Experience in implementing Safety Management System (SMS)

  • Experience with ground support equipment operation

  • Familiar with airport emergency operations

  • Experience in airspace design
