The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-level Communications Specialist to join its defense business in St. Charles, MO. This position will play a vital role in supporting the Precision Engagements Systems (PES) segment of the Space, Intelligence and Weapons systems (SI&WS) business. In this position, you will help shape and execute communication strategies that highlight Boeing’s innovative work in defensive capabilities and offensive weapon systems that serve and protect U.S. military customers and allies around the globe.

We’re seeking a candidate who can convey clear, concise, and consistent messages across numerous communications channels across multimedia formats. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the SI&WS Senior Communications Manager and PES Senior Communications Specialist, to effectively execute internal and external communication plans, ensuring that our initiatives are successfully communicated and understood.

To be successful, you will be a strong project manager, proactively seek out communications opportunities, establish yourself as a collaborative teammate, demonstrate exceptional writing and editing skills, and have experience with media relations, application of relevant communications tools and processes, and working with other functions and business partners as part of a geographically dispersed team. In addition, you will support site communications for our St. Charles location, partnering with teammates who cover the St. Louis region.

The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, communication, content creation and project management skills, with a proven ability to turn complex technical information into engaging narratives.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in St. Charles, Missouri.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development, periodic review and execution of the strategic communications plans for Cruise Missile Systems and Direct Attack programs under the Precision Engagement Systems portfolio

  • Ensures communications efforts align with the goals of Precision Engagement Systems and contribute to the broader objectives of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS)

  • Creates and executes a variety of communication tactics, including written and visual content for both internal and external platforms. This includes: photo and video capture, trade show materials, social media content, digital assets, news releases, proactive media pitches, responses to media inquiries, and employee communications

  • Provides communication support and counsel to portfolio leaders and business development partners

  • Engages with government customers to help shape narratives and positioning of program in the Precision Engagement Systems portfolio

  • Supports communications for Boeing’s St. Charles site and partner with teammates who lead communications for the St. Louis region

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of Communications experience (including, but not limited to: corporate communications, media relations, public relations, marketing or advertising)

  • Strong video skills (filming and editing)

  • Excellent writing skills for communications deliverables (such as social media, news releases, statements, messaging documents, feature stories, speeches, etc.)

  • A background in content development and storytelling

  • Demonstrable experience in partnering with, and providing communications counsel to, senior business leaders

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Aerospace industry experience

  • Working in a fast-paced, self-driven collaborative team environment

  • Success working in a large matrixed organization, or working and collaborating across multiple teams for any given project

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $80,750 - $109,250
