Boeing Global Services is currently seeking an Associate Level and Experienced Level Equipment & Tool Engineer (Asset Engineering) to become part of the Engineering Tooling Group in San Antonio, Texas.


This position will support the San Antonio Innovation Cell and Tooling Group. The position will require the candidate to design tooling, shop aides and shop hardware from various sources. The candidate will have to gather requirements from existing drawings/ specifications, hand sketches and verbal discussions. The tooling drawings will need to be build to print ready with supporting BOM.


This position will also be supporting the everyday business of the Innovation Cell. The Innovation Cell receives request for various types of improvements from mechanics and engineers in production operations. The Innovation Cell provides engineering and prototype fabrication support to implement improvements to the production process.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and develop basic to moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, collects design requirements, creates and revises drawings and models to support the build plan.
  • Create specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
  • Self-check designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and document equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and supports user training development.
  • Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.
  • Maintain hardware and software configuration.
  • Support the disposition of equipment and tooling.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 1+ years’ experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
  • 1+ years’ experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • 1+ years’ experience designing tooling for a production system.
  • 1+ years’ experience with machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • Experience designing tooling within a production system.
  • 1+ years’ experience of modeling experience in CATIA V5.
  • Understanding of Boeing Tooling Processes and Procedures.
  • Ability to visualize multiple solutions to a problem and assess the strength/weaknesses.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing processes and the required inputs for those processes
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its effects on manufacturability.
  • Project management experience including critical path methodology, risk management and project scope.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $85,000 - $115,000

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $103,700 - $140,300
