Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for Flight Readiness Technician Inspectors (FRTI), Level D to support the Flight Line Quality Family based out of San Antonio, Texas on variable shift.

As an FRTI supporting Boeing 787 Fleet, qualified candidates will verify and inspect routine final component installation, as well as support system operational functional validation testing. Flight Readiness Technicians Inspectors verify and inspect rework, modification, maintenance, preflight and post-flight checks for delivery, including, supporting troubleshooting pre and post-flight checks and verification of maintenance and modification actions for delivery of aircraft.  Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to aircraft safety and quality while working in a flight line environment around live aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of quality systems (e.g., inspection process, Boeing quality procedures).

  • Knowledge of aerospace maintenance processes, policies, culture, and standard practices (e.g., return to service, normal duties/responsibilities, time constraints, available resources) in order to effectively represent the operator within the company.

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to reduce scrap, minimize rework, reduce cost and improve quality to meet all requirements. Knowledge of the process for producing product definition data including emergent design changes.

  • Knowledge of flight and flight crew operation publication standards (e.g., Operations Manual Specifications). Knowledge of flight and flight crew operations publication software and the process for inputting, storing, searching, and modifying aircraft system information and aircraft configuration management. Knowledge of standard and specialized software (e.g., FrameMaker) used to produce products (e.g., manuals) and formats (e.g., data, page layout).

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.

  • Performs highly complex pre-flight inspection of aircraft systems and components for conformance to operational and safety standards.

  • Leads advanced pre-flight and post-flight checks through thorough inspection of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and avionics systems.

  • Leads the identification of complex issues or nonconformances affecting flight readiness and identifies resolutions for highly complex matters.

  • Leads preparing aircraft for flight and Airworthiness Certification. Provides guidance on maintaining inspection logs and writing inspection reports.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and motivation to combine the team’s energy and expertise to achieve a common objective. Understands the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performance

  • Demonstrates an interest in personal learning and development. Seeks feedback from multiple sources about how to improve and develop; modifies behavior based on feedback or self-analysis of past mistakes. Takes steps to develop and maintain the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform.

  • Must maintain all necessary certifications to perform the job.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and/or Boeing Production System (BPS)

  • 3+ years of flight line operations experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Velocity and other 787 production applications

  • 3+ years of experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • 3+ years experience utilizing REDARS, Velocity, SAT, and BAC specifications

  • Must be able to work any shift including days, nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with FAA Conformity and Compliance Inspections

  • Experience in creating conformity packages and initiating FAA form 8130-9’s

  • 5+ years of 787 Program AND Velocity Experience

  • 5+ years flight line experience

  • 5+ years of equivalent education and/or experience strongly preferred

  • FAA Airframe & Power Plant license or signed FAA Form 8610-2.

  • Proficient in all forms of NCR (Non-Conformance Record) and EPD (Emergent Process Document) generation (NC/NCR/RGEN/PU/SAT/SRR/PU or RGEN Revision etc.).

Shift: 

This position is for a variable shift (shift 4). Variable shift means you will be assigned a shift at the time of hire based on business needs. You will remain on your assigned work shift until a re-evaluation is required. Shifts assigned for training may differ from your permanent work shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $85,850 – $116,150​
