Boeing Brazil is seeking a Mid Career Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems Engineer, reporting to the Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems Engineering Manager, working out of the São José Dos Campos office.

The Mid Career Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems Engineer will join Boeing Commercial Aircraft team who provide support to all Boeing commercial models both in development and in airline service. These models include programs such as the 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, the 777-X family of airplanes, or all-new airplane(s) that our product development organization studies.

The selected individuals will work within Airplane Systems engineering teams and interface with suppliers or internal Boeing organizations to oversee development of mechanical and hydraulic systems, including landing gear actuation, steering, and braking systems, and associated components for commercial aircraft systems design. Airplane Systems work spans the full range of the aircraft lifecycle: initial concept studies, development, certification, continuous improvement in production, and ongoing support for the duration of their service life. Positions available include work at the systems level as well as across a range of components, including: hydraulic components, actuators, landing gear, wheels, tires, and brakes.

Position Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) to develop and implement engineering solutions for Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems, supporting development programs and in-service aircraft.
  • Develop system requirements and define system architecture.
  • Develop or review hardware and software designs and associated interface specifications.
  • Analyze system performance through modeling and simulation.
  • Ownership of component level design requirements.
  • Support the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
  • Perform and document analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Perform detail design development and modification of mechanical and hydraulic systems installations.
  • Coordinate with other functions, such as Systems, Electrical, Structures, Safety and other interface areas to shape systems architecture and associated interfaces between groups.
  • Work with a worldwide supplier base to develop and implement system hardware, electronics, and software. Contribute to supplier development, design reviews, test and production activities and direct the supplier to optimize integration.
  • Develop or review fleet Service Bulletins, Component Maintenance Manuals and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
  • Supports troubleshooting, testing, modeling and maintenance issues in the assembly line and customers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil.

  • Must have a degree in Engineering.

  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA).

  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • Experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard.

  • Experience with Safety Assessment following ARP4761 standard.

  • Experience with supplier environmental qualification standards (DO-160).

  • Experience with sub-systems/equipment supplier´s management and oversight.

  • Experience developing Mechanical and Hydraulics Systems for aeronautical applications (eg. landing gear actuation systems, landing gear steering systems, wheel, tire and brake systems and/or hydraulic systems).

  • Experience with Modelling and Simulation tools.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. 

Additional Information: 

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil.
