The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA)Customer Support organization is seeking a Component Maintenance Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to support the Component Maintenance Manual team in Seal Beach, California

Position Overview:

As a Component Maintenance Engineer, you will analyzes complex engineering designs and design changes to determine component maintenance/repair requirements, procedures, and instructions; supports activities that influence product designs and processes to ensure supportability and maintainability; creates systems theory descriptions to ensure common understanding of systems and components; conducts engineering analysis to verify the accuracy of component maintenance/repair data. The selected candidate will also develop and provide technical solutions to customers; evaluate customers' component maintenance operations; guide the development of procedures and techniques to allow users to maintain and repair products; and author and guide changes in various airplane component maintenance documents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Integrate data from production and retrofit drawings, specifications, product standards, tooling designs, internal/external publications, test/inspection procedures, and customer information to ensure complete and accurate CMM procedures.
  • Coordinate with FAA Engineering Unit Members (E-UM) and IPT groups, such as stress and materials engineering groups, to ensure feasibility, safety, and compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Continuously develop, validate, and deliver technical data for airplane component maintenance and fault isolation, ensuring adherence to Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and FAA/Foreign Regulatory standards.
  • Analyzes complex engineering designs, supplier specifications, and engine manufacturer design data to identify and formulate maintenance, repair, and tooling support requirements. Develops configuration-specific procedures and instructions accordingly.
  • Validates and verifies systems and components by integrating analytical and test results to ensure they meet requirements and specifications.
  • Drives product designs and process improvements to ensure safety, supportability and maintainability.
  • Develops and implements fault isolation procedures and techniques.
  • Creates comprehensive system theory descriptions to ensure a common understanding of systems and components.
  • Conducts engineering analyses to validate the accuracy of component maintenance data.
  • Assist in providing updates and necessary improvements to the CMM to improve customer satisfaction, efficiency, and to meet changing requirements.
  • Collaborates with customers to address inquiries, develop technical solutions, and assess component maintenance operations.

  • Innovates new procedures and techniques to enhance product maintenance capabilities.
  • Participates in organizational activities that influence the Aerospace Industry.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Seal Beach, California location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 3+ years’ experience with component structural design principles for repair and maintenance (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques).
  • 3+ years’ experience with coordinating across multiple disciplines to develop component repair data.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in engineering areas such as Avionics, Electrical, Communication, Navigation, Hydraulics, Mechanical Systems, Landing Gear, Propulsion, and/or Payloads/Interiors.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as REDARS, CATIA, ENOVIA, PSDS and/or PDM.
  • Experience with wire diagram and/or wire schematic, WIRS, ePLAN, FASTR, ELI, WLI, MAPPER.
  • Experience in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations and environment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical data.
  • Strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Level 3: 5+ years’ experience with component structural design principles for repair and maintenance (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques) and with coordinating across multiple disciplines to develop component repair data.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range:

  • Associate (Level 2): $90,950 - $123,050
  • Experienced (Level 3): $111,350 - $150,650
