Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) is looking for a Propulsion Engineer (Associate, Experienced or Senior) to join our team in Seal Beach, CA.

In this role, as as propulsion engineer you will learn how to directly support customer technical inquiries and advocate customer issues within Boeing. The assignment would cover emergent-short flow inquiries as well as long flow predictive-proactive projects. The participant would learn to perform independent research as well as coordinate with internal groups and external partners/suppliers. The Propulsion Service engineering team is a fast-paced organization that works directly with our customers to provide world class customer support 24/7, 365.

Depending on the participant’s background, interest level, and current team needs, this role could be in the following technical areas, and include (but not limited to) the noted specific tasks.(Service Engineering and Repair Design Engineering are unique roles)

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate (level 2), Experienced (Level 3) and Senior (Level 4) Propulsion Engineers

The Nacelle Service and Repair Teams support customer service requests, development of repair solutions, and predictive/proactive projects for all in-service Boeing-owned Nacelle Structures. You will also be able to combine the deep expertise and resources of the entire Boeing enterprise with the flexibility and fast pace of a smaller company setting. You will have opportunities to collaborate with people from all over the world to create and deliver innovative solutions to complex technical problems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports customer service requests with structural analysis and technical dispositions for damage and deviations to nacelle structures design and repair (Inlets, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reverser/Core Cowls, and Exhausts)

  • Performs, leads, and reviews urgent (hours to days), longer-term (weeks to months), simple, moderate, and significantly complex structural analyses for metallic and composite damage/repairs including preparation of 8100-9 forms for AD-affected structure, AMOCs, and major repairs

  • Develops creative and innovative structural analysis methods, predictive/proactive projects, and improvements to existing SRMs and support documentation in support of our customers and development of Boeing Nacelle Repair methodologies

  • Participates in current and future design/development initiatives to advocate for customer concerns/needs and improved supportability, maintainability, and repairability of nacelle structures  

  • Identifies and supports improvements to repair team work-flow, work distribution, repair methods, and processes

  • Leverages our Customer Support and larger Boeing networks to support customer needs

Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis; employees must be willing to work flexible hours and/or non-standard shifts to support our fleets.

International and domestic travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (ABET preferred)

  • 2+ years’ experience with structural analysis of metallic and composite repairs

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of industry-related experience with Primary/Secondary Structural Analysis

  • 3+ years’ experience in structural analysis of propulsion/nacelle structures

  • Ability to work across functional teams and organizations

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Experience as an engineer in a customer support role to an airline or supplier

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range Associate (Level 2): $96,300 - $117,700

Summary pay range Experienced (Level 3): $117,900 - $144,100

Summary pay range Senior (Level 4): $143,100 - $174,900
