Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lead Program Management Specialist (Level 6) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in Seal Beach, CA to support development of new, first-of-kind electronic units supporting space vehicles and missions.

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently launched on its eighth and most ambitious flight yet.

As a member of our Project Leadership team, you will lead an Integrated Product Team consisting of a diverse group of mechanical, electrical designers, system architects, and system and subsystem engineers. You will be expected to work in the area of project management leading coordination across all internal and external stakeholders to drive your assigned products’ development from early capabilities studies through demonstration.

In this role, you will serve as a core point of contact for customers and will work directly with subject matter experts across the business to quickly iterate and converge on achievable solutions that meet our customers’ needs. Our development timelines are aggressive and you will be asked to develop solutions to previously unsolved problems.  You will work with and lead multidisciplinary teams to bring concept of operations to fruition in support of our customers’ mission objectives. You will work both as an individual contributor and as a team lead.

An ideal candidate has a strong technical background across all spacecraft subsystems, a strong systems engineering background, and demonstrated project management, Cost Account Manager (CAM), and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) skills. You will need to be able to dive into broad, minimally-defined design spaces and effectively lead integrated efforts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of electronic units
  • Support technology integration for and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions
  • Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership
  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere
  • Manage project development and design from early capabilities studies through demonstration

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in systems engineering to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system solutions
  • Experience in engineering project planning, project management, or program management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Minimum 10 years of systems engineering experience
  • Minimum 6 years of project management experience
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
  • Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned systems

Summary pay range: $199,750 - $270,250
