Job Description

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a First-line Structures Safety and Airworthiness Manager (Level K) to lead Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) activities for post-production aircraft in Southern California (Seal Beach and Long Beach).

This role supports both BGS modifications and conversions, as well as customer support. The Structures SAW Manager will strengthen our DAE program (including appointment, training, and qualification for 15.4), drive improvements to SAW processes, and lead a team of structural subject matter experts across modification, conversion, and repair.

As a manager, you will have a safety-first mindset with strong attention to detail, practical and pragmatic problem-solving skills focused on customer service, and strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and priorities. You will demonstrate high integrity, accountability, and sound judgment in decision-making, along with technical credibility and the ability to clearly communicate complex structural and airworthiness topics to stakeholders at all levels.

Key responsibilities

  • Leads SAW activities for post‑production aircraft (BGS modifications and conversion programs) including technical review, disposition, and sign‑off support.

  • Serves as the primary structures interface for customer support issues, trouble‑shooting, corrective action, and airworthiness decisions.

  • Strengthens the DAE program for 15.4: develop and deliver training, support candidate evaluation and appointment, maintain competency records, and mentor DAEs.

  • Owns continuous improvement of SAW structures processes: procedures, checklists, work instructions, and handoffs with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain.

  • Provides guidance for structural inspections, modifications, repairs, and return‑to‑service dispositions consistent with company policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Leads or supports internal and external audits, findings remediation, and corrective action plans related to structures and airworthiness.

  • Collaborates with Certification/Engineering to ensure design changes, service bulletins, and modification kits meet airworthiness intent and are implementable in the field.

  • Maintains up‑to‑date technical knowledge and regulatory awareness; advise leadership on safety and airworthiness risk.

  • Prepares and presents technical reports, technical logs, and customer communications; escalate safety concerns promptly.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Structures, Aerospace, or Aeronautical).

  • 5+ years of experience in aircraft structures/modifications/repairs, or airworthiness on transport or large regional aircraft.

  • 1+ years of experience developing and delivering training, qualification programs, and leading/mentoring technical staff.

  • Experience in aircraft certifications.

  • Willingness to travel regionally and to customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in supporting post‑delivery modifications and conversions.

  • Proven process improvement experience (procedures, audits, root cause/corrective action).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience interacting with customers and regulatory authorities.

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence without direct authority.

  • Familiarity with DAE appointment and qualification processes (specific experience with 15.4 candidate preparation and oversight is a plus).

  • Experience with structural analysis, fatigue/damage tolerance, repairs and return to service processes.

  • Knowledge of relevant aviation regulations and advisory material.
