The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Data Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join our Audit Leadership Development Program to support our strategic business hubs, virtually.

In this role you will be a member of Boeing’s Corporate Audit Data Analytics team, a national team covering a wide range and scope of audit activities. As a Mid-Level DevOps Data Engineer, you will assist Corporate Audit in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Boeing’s governance, risk management and internal control environment by providing data and automation support to perform independent evaluations of the adequacy and effectiveness of Boeing’s production, finance, operations, compliance and technology functions.

Corporate Audit is a leadership development program designed to give participants exposure across all Boeing business units, an unmatched leadership experience, and opportunities for expanded career growth. As part of the team, you’ll evaluate complex business issues, obtain ongoing training & development (including an annual in person conference), executive mentorship, and exposure to top leadership.

You will provide data and automation support for a variety of complex projects. In addition, under the guidance of the Data Analytics Senior Manager, you will help to execute the analytics roadmap for audit, which includes improving and enhancing audit department efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging tools like AWS and Python.

A successful candidate will have a DevOps and data engineering background to focus on supporting automation projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define desired user experiences with data; use these requirements to design orchestration strategies, data models, and partition strategies that optimize performance and cost of data curation and access 
  • Design, build, and manage scalable systems and data pipelines that enable the department to collect, store, and process large volumes of data from diverse sources using big data technologies
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable deployment of applications and services with Cloud technologies
  • Implement testing and alerts that identify undesirable performance in codebases and data pipelines
  • Analyze large datasets to identify, disposition, and explain the root cause for unanticipated data trends
  • Implement access-control and security systems for compliance with data governance policies
  • Develop and maintain partnerships while working in a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Product Owners, and Business Intelligence Analysts
  • Exercise critical thinking and innovative problem solving

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience leading work streams with data scientists and other data & analytics professionals, utilizing analytics and software development processes for natural language processing, machine learning on unstructured data, and/or information retrieval
  • Experience in cloud and/or data engineering
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, configuration management tools, and containerization and orchestration tools for infrastructure automation
  • Experience with cloud technology resources, configuration, deployment, and architecture

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, verbal/written communication, and ability to explain technically complex concepts to business stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS resources, configuration, deployment, and architecture
  • Experience utilizing a diverse array of technologies and tools as needed to deliver insights, such as fluency in Python
  • Experience with command-line scripting, data structures, and algorithms; Ability to write production level code
  • Experience working in a role that develops Data Engineering solutions as part of a cross-functional team that includes Data Scientists, Product Owners, and Business Intelligence Analysts
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, financial services)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range Experienced (Level 3): $106,250 - $154,100

Summary pay range Senior (Level 4): $126,650 - $184,000
