The Boeing Company is looking for a Research Electro-Mechanical Mechanical Technician to join our team in Seattle, WA

Position Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, and test components of prototype aircraft instrumentation and ordnance equipment

  • Set up and operate required flight test equipment (e.g., wire bundles, sensors, strain gages) to perform functional or environmental tests on production and/or experimental

  • Obtain appropriate engineering drawings and test documents, as required, for assignment if drawings, sketches, and documents are not with work order

  • Fabricate wire bundles used to connect various types of flight test computer equipment together, for the purpose of collecting and storing data during test flights

  • Perform tests such as vibration, thermal, humidity, or altitude using various computer systems, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and meters of various types under direction of lead and/or engineering. Install thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges by soldering, bonding, or using mechanical fastening devices

  • Perform modification and repair of test equipment to meet engineering configuration, as required

  • Select proper hand, power, and/or bench tools needed to perform required operation, such as screwdrivers, pliers, torque wrenches, crimpers, cable tools, band saw, drill press, and sander

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (ketone, naphtha, alcohol, epoxy, acids) in approved manner (in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets) using personal protective equipment as required

Respiratory Protection (air-supplied hoods, air purifying, quarter, half & full-face), Special "Full Body" Clothing (heat resistant, conductive, leaded, and electromagnetic radiation suits)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical workflow

  • 1+ year of experience working with hazardous materials

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineer drawings and technical data

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling and lifting

  • Experience fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses; or any variety of electrical components, and associated equipment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Materials Management Organization (MMO)

Shift:

This role is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.

Union:  

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range: $27.00/hour to start, with maximum potential to earn $52.78/hour at top pay.
