The Boeing Company is looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Data Architect to join the team in Seattle, WA; Mesa, AZ; Dallas, TX; Berkeley, MO; Hazelwood, MO; Saint Charles, MO; Huntsville, AL; El Segundo, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; Seal Beach, CA; Aurora, Co; Miami, FL; Portland, OR; Oklahoma City, OK; North Charleston, SC; or Ridley Park, PA.

We are seeking an experienced, future-oriented Data Warehousing Lead & Architect to own and evolve our data platform. This person will combine deep, practical data engineering, data management, data governance, data quality, and enterprise data warehousing expertise with modern platforms and cloud-native thinking to support current operations while accelerating modernization. Key responsibilities include technical leadership, architecture and migration planning, guiding ingestion teams on modular frameworks, optimized pipelines, and agile deliveries, automating access and security, and shifting the operating model toward faster, safer, business-focused delivery. The ideal candidate preserves important legacy domain knowledge while enabling scalable, automated, and cloud-forward capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serves as technical lead and data architect for the Teradata data warehouse, designing and driving platform modernization, documenting data heat-maps from source to target, business transformation logic, and full lineage that enables improvement efforts, drive certified data products with embedded quality, data governance, and long-term platform strategy

  • Learns, documents, and maps current application architecture, ingestion patterns, data flows, and platform constraints to create a clear modernization roadmap

  • Partners with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions; determine appropriate ingestion patterns (batch, Change Data Capture (CDC), streaming) and hybrid deployment approaches

  • Guides and mentors’ data ingestion developers — recommend design patterns, review implementations, perform impact analysis, and raise quality and reuse standards

  • Defines, evolves, and automates the data access and security model, including protections for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), export‑controlled, and proprietary data; implement role/attribute-based controls and row-level techniques

  • Pushes automation across access provisioning, ingestion pipelines, testing, Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deliver (CI/CD), and deployment to reduce manual work and speed safe delivery

  • Promotes and helps operationalize modern platform practices: infrastructure-as-code, pipeline observability, metadata/cataloging, data contract/versioning, and policy-as-code

  • Leads incident triage and Root Cause and Correct Action (RCCA) efforts; implement remediation and prevention to improve stability and performance

  • Performs data analysis, impact assessments, and performance tuning across ingestion, Extract Transform Load/Extract Load Transform (ETL/ELT), cleansing, and storage layers

  • Prioritizes work across multiple projects, balance operational reliability with modernization initiatives, and coordinate delivery across teams

  • Builds trusted relationships with internal data consumers; capture usage patterns and feedback to guide incremental improvements

  • Communicates progress, risk, and technical tradeoffs clearly to leadership and stakeholders, champion transparency and end-to-end accountability

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10 + years of experience as a technical lead or architect on complex data warehouse and data engineering initiatives

  • 10+ years of experience performing impact analysis, troubleshooting complex issues, and producing clear technical documentation

  • 10+ years of experience with relational and cloud data platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, BigQuery, Redshift, databricks etc.)

  • 5+ years of experience with Teradata and enterprise-scale data warehousing concepts (ingestion, ETL/ELT, partitioning, indexing, performance tuning, data quality, data observability, data management)

  • 5+ years of experience with data governance - data protection, privacy, and access controls (PII handling, export-controlled data, and row-level security)

  • 5+ years of experience with control models: role-based, attribute-based, and policy-driven approaches

  • 5+ years of experience with scripting and programming skills for automation and tooling (e.g., Python, Bash, SQL, PySpark engine or similar)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with cloud databases (data bricks, snowflake, e.g.) and integration pipelines

  • 2+ years of experience integrating cloud-native patterns into legacy warehouses: hybrid architectures, cloud migrations, or offloading analytical workloads

  • Experience with streaming CDC technologies and replication tools (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, Terraform, Oracle GoldenGate, HVR)

  • Experience in platform thinking infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD for data pipelines, automated testing, and deployment orchestration

  • Experience with data productization concepts (data mesh, data contracts, data lineage, self-service analytics)

  • Experience with containerized environments, Kubernetes, or platform engineering concepts

  • Certifications in Teradata, cloud platforms, or data security and/or privacy
