Boeing Law & Global Compliance is seeking an experienced attorney to fill a position based at one of Boeing’s major U.S. sites.

The Senior Manager, E-Discovery and Litigation Support, will be a key leader in successfully shaping the future of the Law Department’s e-discovery and litigation support program.  This individual will, among other things, work with colleagues in the Law Department to lead e-discovery strategy across the company’s business units; select and manage e-discovery vendors and outside project managers; develop and improve e-discovery policies, procedures, and systems with an eye toward driving efficiency and constant innovation; and build and train a top-notch in-house e-discovery team. 

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

  • Analyze the current state of Boeing’s e-discovery program, including its processes, systems, internal partners, staffing, and vendors.
  • Evaluate the current state of the company’s relevant data repositories and applications (on-prem, cloud, and third-party), as well as its data privacy/security and information governance programs.
  • Recommend and implement, as needed, company-appropriate policies, procedures, workflows, and software/platforms that support Boeing’s e-discovery, data privacy/security, and information governance programs and that drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Help manage, in collaboration with Information Technology and other relevant stakeholders, the company’s data preservation and retention policies, including legal hold processes and software.
  • Help structure the architecture of our existing e-discovery team, including defining roles and responsibilities of team members, and providing those team members with the resources, training, and support they need to succeed at the highest level.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Law Department and Global Compliance teams on issues related to e-discovery and litigation support.
  • Support and manage litigation matters in other ways as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA accredited school.  This individual must be licensed to practice law in at least 1 state or the District of Columbia.
  • A deep understanding of and passion for e-discovery and the litigation support industry.  This is typically the result of at least 5 years of relevant experience in law firms, corporate legal departments, and/or at e-discovery service providers. 
  • Proven leadership and experience building out a top-notch e-discovery and litigation support team.  This individual should be driven by a desire to develop their team and provide profressional growth opportunities for them.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects at the same time.  This individual is expected to manage e-discovery projects across multiple matters and across multiple departments at the same time, while also managing their own team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong executive presence.  This individual is expected to present to top leadership and build buy-in across various teams.
  • A firm understanding of database design and management, data processing activities, and legal document review requirements.
  • Experience vetting and engaging vendors in the e-discovery and litigation support space.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 eDiscovery and Microsoft E5 Compliance, Exterro, and legal hold software more generally.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, and FedRAMP.
  • Basic familiarity with financial modeling. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years consulting, litigation support, or attorney experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or e-discovery service provider.
  • Prior experience building an e-discovery and litigation support function at a major company.
  • Prior experience as a litigator at a major international law firm.

  • The ability to proactively identify and address challenges as they arise.
  • The ability to operate independently and engage with leadership and clients in-person at various Boeing locations and remotely.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  


Summary pay range: $150,000 - $240,000
