Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Supply Chain Business Data Steward to join our dynamic team in El Segundo, CA, Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Philadelphia, PA, ST Louis, MO.

Position summary
The Supply Chain Business Data Steward is a senior, domain-focused role responsible for the governance, stewardship, and business ownership of supply chain data across planning, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, and logistics for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS). This role leads the definition of canonical supply chain definitions, drives enterprise data-quality improvements, enforces policy and compliance requirements, and partners with data engineering, MDM, analytics, and operations to ensure data is trusted and fit-for-purpose. The role requires deep functional experience (15+ years) in supply chain and demonstrated leadership in data governance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead definition and maintenance of canonical business glossaries, taxonomies, and authoritative definitions for supply chain entities (SKU/Product, Supplier, Purchase Order, Lot/Batch, Inventory Location, Shipment, ATP, etc.).
  • Own domain metadata and business lineage in the enterprise data catalog; ensure critical operational and reporting datasets are accurately described and governed.
  • Establish, prioritize, and monitor domain-specific data quality rules and KPIs (completeness, accuracy, uniqueness, timeliness); lead root-cause analysis and remediation with cross-functional teams.
  • Approve and steward changes to domain data models, business attributes, and integration mappings; validate alignment with MDM/Governance and enterprise models.
  • Enforce data policies (retention, sensitivity, privacy, access) for supply chain data, including adherence to regulated-data controls (ITAR/CUI/EAR awareness).
  • Translate complex business processes into clear data requirements and acceptance criteria; validate that delivered datasets, reports, and KPIs reflect business intent.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups to resolve high-impact data issues affecting operations, planning, financial reporting, or compliance.
  • Mentor and coach junior stewards, SMEs, and business users; evangelize stewardship best practices and adoption of authoritative definitions.
  • Produce domain playbooks, governance artifacts, training materials, and consumer guidance for supply chain data usage.
  • Represent supply chain in enterprise data governance councils and act as the principal business steward for supply chain initiatives.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This job requires a government security clearance, which requires citizenship. Do you meet this requirement?

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of progressive, functional experience in supply chain roles (operations, planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, inventory management) and the ability to translate processes into data definitions and requirements.
  • 5+ years in data stewardship, data governance, master data support, or sustained cross-functional data leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring and maintaining business glossaries, canonical definitions, data quality rules, and lineage documentation.
  • 5+ years - Strong knowledge of ERP/WMS/TMS processes, product hierarchies, supplier lifecycle, inventory accounting concepts, and planning/fulfillment metrics (e.g., ATP, OTIF).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional remediation efforts and influence stakeholders across business and technical teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and training skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with or supporting BDS/Government Defense programs and/or divisions
  • Experience with SQL or basic data profiling/analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure) and common analytics/BI ecosystems.
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience working with BDS Strategy organization
  • Experience working across multiple Engineering disciplines and Digital Enterprise

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+7 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

$148,750-$215,050
