Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including an Experienced or Senior Level Virtual Reality (VR) Systems Engineer to join the Digital Analytics & Customer Training organization located in Seattle, WA.

Our team is responsible for creation and curation of training content for maintenance, manufacturing, and factory operations in both the commercial airline and government/defense domains. In addition to immersive and video training content, the group maintains advanced visualization tools for our Operations and Logistics Simulation suite.

As a member of this team, you will lead and develop innovative Virtual Reality (VR) applications for various teams and programs around the globe.  You closely involved with the development of new training content; working with stakeholders to define and orchestrate training sequences, then leveraging our Unreal Engine platform to visualize, and produce content. You will work as a mentee to the Technical Lead Engineer and organization Technical Fellows; gaining experience with scenario visualization, training delivery and the integration of visualizations with various products and services in use and under development across the enterprise. This position requires significant experience with VR application development, specifically with Unreal Engine (UE5), as well as other scripting languages.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, documents, and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Maintains and modifies simulation code for integration of software components into a fully functional system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Performs software project management and software supplier management functions as necessary.
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects.
  • Tracks and evaluates team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
  • Works under general direction.
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.
  • May be asked to support other programs or perform other duties as needed.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • A strong/current working knowledge of, and experience with Unreal Engine.
  • A strong/current working knowledge of, and experience with Unreal Blueprints.
  • Experience with development of applications for both Desktop and VR delivery interfaces.
  • Knowledge of testing protocols and practices based on form factor and customer requirement.
  • A mix of both technical experience and work experience balancing projects that span both government and commercial domains.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in parallel, using strong communication skills to effectively work with customers, VR users, and Boeing engineering experts.
  • Familiarity with Boeing technology platforms.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 3+ years’ development experience with Unreal Engine using blueprints.
  • 3+ years’ development experience with C/C++.
  • 2+ years’ experience with Unreal Motion Graphics UI Designer (UMG).
  • 2+ years’ experience in developing VR applications for engineering.
  • Experience in developing applications and application performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of higher education and/or related work experience, (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.).
  • Experience with Adobe Substance Suite.
  • Experience with Maya, 3DX, Blender, CATIA, or other 3D CAD software.
  • Experience in developing Python scripts and managing Git repositories.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Experienced-Level Summary Pay Range: $104,550 - $141,450

Senior-Level Summary Pay Range: $128,350 - $173,650
