Primary Job Responsibilities

Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineers are needed to support the goals and objectives of the various Boeing commercial programs (737/767/777/787) and projects being conducted by Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) Materials and Process Engineering in China. We are looking for airplane lab test and cabin interior engineers who can lead and work collaboratively multiple types of issues (e.g. Interior design/fabrication, lab testing and supplier qualification etc.) and act as the company representative at supplier, sub-tier supplier, and academic premises. 

  • Provide production support for 737MAX Skyline program aircraft painting and interior installation.
  • Conduct failure root cause analysis for fuselage paint peel off and corrective action (RCCA) thru conducting test at BTI China Zhoushan Lab.
  • Support new interior supplier qualification and supplier base continuous development and optimization
  • Manage and execute the interior material evaluation and test.
  • Support audit interiors programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements and production schedule need dates.
  • Ensure materials, processes and equipment readiness at suppliers for qualification.
  • Interface with stakeholders in Boeing procurement and quality organizations and Boeing Suppliers to ensure M&P support is integrated with airplane schedule and rate requirements.
  • Support Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) China Zhoushan Lab AS9100 quality management system setup, operation and certification.
  • Work on lab management and operation procedures and work instruction preparation and continuously optimization.
  • Support joint project collaboration with US BCA Materials and Processes Engineering) on various initiative programs: Safety data sheet (SDS) and One data management system (ODMS) consolidation etc to enhance the technical qualification documents management and improve effective supplier information sharing and communication.
  • Actively engage and support supply chain strategy execution on China Interior Center (CIC) set up

Other job related information

Candidate must be eligible to be stationed Shanghai and work in China.

Travel up to 35% will be required within China to fulfill this work statement at Boeing suppliers and to USA as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Engineering and/or Science degree of Bachelor or above in Material Science, Material Engineering or similar degrees are appropriate. 

Must to have

  • Have a minimum of 8 years proven experience on commercial airplane interior materials, parts, or processes with OEM and/or suppliers in relevant application areas
  • Sound technical and domain experience in polymers and chemical materials (such as cleaning solvent, adhesives, thermoset/thermoplastic resins)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Engineering background
  • Ability to lead root-cause and corrective action in a structured manner
  • Prior experience with commercial airplane materials, parts, or processes with OEM or sub-tier suppliers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Good to Have

  • Flexibility to work on different technology areas and applications related to aerospace manufacturing
  • Experience working collaboratively with international groups at the Multinational Corporations (MNC)Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in Boeing design and build processes, and especially to engineers with experience of aerospace interior manufacturing/design, model based simulation, with Boeing material (BMS) and process (BAC) specification knowledge. 

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not on Boeing US-based payroll.
