Position Overview

The Production and Industrial Engineering (PI&E) team at Boeing Sheffield, a Boeing Fabrication site that is part of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), are looking to hire an Equipment Engineer.

The Equipment Engineering (EE) function in the Boeing Sheffield PI&E team develop concepts and specifications for aerospace manufacturing equipment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage equipment acquisition and modification, validate performance, and develop documentation and maintenance plans. They also provide technical support for engineering changes and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory requirements, and ergonomic factors.

The ideal candidate will investigate, create, and review equipment and tooling concepts, participate in design reviews, research new technology, establish technical requirements, develop statements of work, maintain equipment requirements, provide technical support, and conduct equipment disposition studies.

Position Responsibilities:

This is a Production Asset development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
  • Participates in design reviews and collects design requirements.
  • Creates and revises drawings and models to support the build plan.
  • Creates specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
  • Ensures designs comply with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Validates contractual performance milestones.
  • Develops and documents inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and supports user training development.
  • Provides technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies.
  • Maintains hardware and software configuration, and documentation.
  • Prepares plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.
  • Perform studies and makes recommendations for the disposition of assets.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and leadership to share data, plans, and results.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Required qualifications must always be met by the successful candidate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field, or equivalent, or higher.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with production systems in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to define, design and plan projects, achieve project deliverables, and optimize the contributions of internal and external resources.
  • Ability to create project schedules to identify overall timeframe for project activities to meet the defined project objectives (to include major milestones).
  • Experience in manage equipment acquisition and modification.
