Role Overview

  • As a production team leader, you will lead, monitor and supervise employees within your assigned cell/department.

  • A fundamental part of this role is demonstrable and proven ability to motivate and lead a diverse team. You will be the first point of contact for all team members within your area of control. You will lead from the front providing problem solving capability and nurture team work and cross-functional cooperation.

  • You will be required to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration and 360 degree communication.

  • Being able to perform shift working is a requirement of this position

  • Understand the organisations vision, goals and objectives. Lead the team to excel in daily performance and achieve enhanced levels of safety, quality and productivity.

  • Set-up / changeover and / or operate a range of CNC lathes, dual spindle mill turn, horizontal 5 Axis milling machines by installing and adjusting work holding, tooling and tool wear offsets.

  • Able to run multiple machines / set-ups (multi task).

  • Follow Team Leader Standard Work

  • Immediately respond to team member issues, if unable to resolve within span of control initiate with Line Side Control Centre (LSCC)

  • Work with LSCC to ensure rapid response to issues

  • Facilitate daily plan and performance review with team

  • Update One BPS Tier Boards and Lead Tier Meetings

  • Lead the team with full understanding of One BPS standards

  • Ensure team members understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and embrace the goals set.

  • Align to strategic goals by working with team to identify ideas and projects, process improvement and all elements of safety, quality, delivery, cost, innovation and people

  • Help create and monitor standardised work starting with on-boarding through daily utilisation and including and gaps identified

  • Work with fellow team leaders to improve performance across the value stream

  • Identify roadblocks that are inhibiting progress; seek help from leadership and support, when required.

  • Communicate performance and progress to the team and manager

  • Encourage and lead a culture of continuous improvement and systematic problem solving

  • Frequently interface with team by being available on the shop floor

  • Support and participate in improvement activities and involve team members in improvement activities

  • Assist in the elimination of defects through systematic problem solving and coordination with upstream processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Proven experience of problem solving within a highly regulated and standardised industry ( for example: Aerospace, Automotive, or Oil and Gas etc.)

  • Proven work experience leading, motivating and developing teams

  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and the use of lean principles.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working within an aerospace, fabrication or manufacturing environment.

  • Good working knowledge of maintaining and improving safety and quality standards.
