Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineering Senior Manager to join our Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Production & Industrial Engineering (P&IE) Fabrication Team. This position requires on-site presence based in Sheffield, England with occasional travel to the Puget Sound Site, and possibly to other areas across the United Kingdom and the United States for supplier / partner engagements.

You will work directly with local Sheffield management to develop and inspire a diverse team of manufacturing engineers (ME), Liaison Engineers (LE), Industrial Engineers (IE), and equipment & tool engineers (E&TE) to create safe and high-quality production system solutions for our BCA airplane programs. You may also be asked to liaise with other Boeing business unit Production Engineering capabilities, for broader company benefit.

Position Responsibilities:

Candidates will be considered based on the strength of their Production Engineering background, breadth and depth of experiences, and educational background.   • Represent US-based BCA ME, LE, IE, and E&TE functional teams.
  • Support technical excellence and integration between Sheffield and other Global Production and Industrial Engineering teams.
  • Provide support and guidance on technical approaches to ME build plan design, NC programming, Equipment and Tooling design, and the broader analysis and integration of production system solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategic engineering initiatives to ensure existing and future success of the Boeing Sheffield Fabrication site.
  • Build capability and capacity of Sheffield teams to perform more complex statement of work.
  • Train Sheffield managers on the complete life cycle of Production. Engineering and better understand constraints and opportunities in our production environments.
  • Train Sheffield employees on technical and operational aspects of BCA airplane programs and the fabrication business.
  • Lead and develop a team of production engineers and first-level managers at the Sheffield site to achieve program and site objectives.
  • Define and execute departmental plans, policies and procedures aligned with Boeing programme requirements and site strategy.
  • Provide technical oversight and approval of manufacturing approaches and production deliverables.
  • Drive process improvements (DFM, Lean, Six Sigma principles) to improve safety, product quality, reduce cost and increase throughput.
  • Lead the digital strategy for the site.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams, manufacturing, quality, operations and supply chain to resolve production-related problems.
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements, Boeing quality systems and site safety standards; promote proactive safety and quality culture.
  • Overall, strengthen our global partnership between UK-based and US-based teams for Production Engineering.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (or similar).
  • Experience working directly in a Manufacturing environment (fabrication or assembly factories or within Advanced Manufacturing) is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience leading or managing teams and performing engineering work statement in production-facing roles is required.
  • Experience within various commercial business segments (e.g. fabrication, assembly, product development).
  • Experience partnering with global, geographically diverse teams.
  • Previous Aerospace or Advanced Manufacturing experience.
  • Strong candidates will have prior demonstrated success in developing and maintaining productive relationships with customers, stakeholders, and peers, as well as strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to take initiative, and the ability to partner across multiple engineering functions, business segments, and geographic areas.
  • ABET accredited Engineering Degree.
