Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Mid-Level or Senior Manufacturing Industrial Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, working as a Industrial Engineer, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools to promote and assist in implementing changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.

  • Develops and maintains complex business system factory definition to be used for manufacturing planning.

  • Develops models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers and customer).

  • Applies general Industrial Engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design and manufacturing teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements.

  • Leads in research, design, development, improvement and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.

  • Manages, defines, negotiates, and controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and performs risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation).

  • Provides support to project completion.

  • Utilizes engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products.

  • Under general direction, analyzes and designs value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).

  • Partnering with other organizations in the evaluation and refinement of program goals, business objectives, decision support needs, and both the data and performance requirements to meet program/project level objectives.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of experience with data analytics, database architecture, coding familiarity & systems level thinking

  • 3+ years of experience with Industrial Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Understanding of Industrial Engineering tools and how they integrate into shop systems

  • Ability to successfully work well and communicate with others in a cross functional team

  • Experience developing IE functional processes, standards or tools

  • Experience as a lead engineer

  • Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and Unigraphics (UG)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Mid-Level (Level 3) Summary pay range: $95,200 - $128,800

Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $117,300 - $158,700
