Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking Product Repair/Modification Technicians to support the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) in Kennedy Space Center, Florida

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies that includes the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV).  The X-37B OTV is the United States’ most advanced, state-of-the-art reentry space craft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned duties as an individual or as a member of a cross-functional High-Performance Work Team
  • Operates computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems)
  • Uses various types of power tools, hand tools, and torque tools
  • Performs all elements of mechanical or electrical assembly from detailed work instructions, including reworks and repairs
  • Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft electrical components of moderate difficulty
  • Possess general shop skills including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems
  • Performs routine troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults
  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components
  • Fabricates and modifies aerospace products according to specifications
  • Performs tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations)
  • Performs operations utilizing Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) personal protective equipment (PPE)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime
  • More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day
  • More than 1 year of experience in aerospace production and maintenance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCAPE Cat 1 and Cat 4 certification health requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • More than 1 year of experience with hardware integration for spacecraft, missile or aircraft systems
  • More than 1 year of experience working with various material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and cranes
  • Experience with spacecraft hardware integration
  • Top Secret Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Technical Trade School (ABET Certified preferred) and/or Aerospace Technology Technician Certification/Training
  • Current SCAPE Cat 1 and Cat 4 certification

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This position requires travel up to 25% of the time

Shift:

  • The candidate must be able to work any shift assigned

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $48,450 – $65,550 USD

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.
